Hello,

Do we have an agenda for the weekend trip? I saw driving instructions to meet on Thursday for a BBQ but didn't know what time or if we should bring a side dish.

Thanks!

Gary

Dinner is around 6PM, but you can arrive anytime after 4. Bring your own drinks and chairs. If you would like to bring an appetizer or dessert, it would be greatly appreciated but not required. The runs will be announced at dinner on Thursday.

Wow!
Really enjoyed video.
I remember the downhill before the mine.
My brother from Bay Area still talks about our wide open outside spaces.
He loved the Ely Mountains.
I get claustrophobic in California Bay Area.
. So many trails, I so little time.
Thanks for sharing.

I was just curious. . . On our way to the Belmont Mine we saw large areas where the juniper trees had all been cut down. I finally called the USFS Ely office and asked about the areas where the juniper trees had been cut down and were just laying there. Generally, the juniper is a water drinking weed to them, fine in small doses but it has taken over more than it's share and once it does, it takes so much of the water that it is tough for other plants and animals to get by or make a come back. I believe many of the white pines had been harvested many years ago. So they have had some large areas of junipers cut down. We already saw some white pines popping up in those areas. The cut junipers are available for folks to take for fire wood or whatever they want. You might want to ask first.
