Tom and I pre-ran Titus, and the trail is in great shape. Maybe a 1.5 at the most. There's some nasty washboard, and a few ruts here and there.

I am making one change. Instead of meeting in front of the Death Valley Inn, we'll gather in the dirt lot across from the Stagecoach Inn instead - there's more room, and it's right across from gas and all the candy you could ever hope for.

We'll still meet at 8:00, and roll at 8:30. The date is still May 10th.

Tom and I found a wonderful sandwich shop on main street - KC's Outpost. Homemade bread, and the special of the day came with a slice of strawberry cake.

There's also Mel's Diner for breakfast across from the Death Valley Inn.

I'm still going up on Friday the 9th. I haven't decided whether I'll stay Saturday night or not. If there are folks camping out, who want to do a campfire and such, then I probably will.

As for Rhyolite, that will definitely be a stop on the way back to Beatty after Titus.

I would also like to mention there is a ghost town called Rhyolite just out of town on route 374. I have attached a website if anyone would be interested. http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/nv/rhyolite.html I've been there before and its really neat.

This is probably the best scenic run I've ever done. Beautiful vistas. Ghost town. Petroglyphs. Spring. And a great canyon. If you've never seen Titus Canyon you're in for a treat. Great run. Wish I could go with you all. Have fun everyone

Dawn, what time are you going on Friday? If there's a place where I can at least set up a cot, I may go on Friday instead of trying to get there Saturday morning.

Not sure when I'm heading up Friday yet. I need to coordinate with David, my geology buddy, and his girlfriend, to caravan up with them. When I know my timing, I'll post it.

And, I am staying over Saturday night.

Where do you folks camp out? I was reading about the Thorndike and Mahogany Flats campgrounds which look nice up in the elevation.

Generally, folks bring their rv's and stay at the campground right next to the Death Valley Inn.

Most all requirement can be found in the Club Info area of the Message Board. You will have to sign a waiver before the run. We also ask for a $5 donation. If you decide to become a member that day. The donation can be used towards the $30 initial membership dues. Our Trailboss John should be there to assist you. If John isn't there, then someone of John's choosing will be able to help you.

Turns out my geology buddy, David, can't come. Bummer.

I'm going to spend some time at the Corn Creek station before I head to Beatty. If anyone hasn't seen the new visitor's center, it's very nice! And, if anyone has never been there at all, you should. It's a real oasis, with trees and trails and actual water.

I'm planning on leaving Corn Creek around 2:30 on Friday, so if anyone wants to caravan, that's where I'll be.

would like to caravan up on Friday.
Have not seen corn creek visitor center either.
check in at DV Inn is not until 3pm unless your room has special dispensation from management.
hope the road into visitor center has been bladed. quite washboard last time.
will touch base before Friday

We went to the Corn Creek Visitor's center a couple of weeks ago. My brother and sister were visiting from out of town and they totally enjoyed it. They have done a really nice job there - it's well worth the stop. The road in was a little rough, but not too bad.
