OK all you pistoleros out there... Rubicon Bob and I will be at the Desert Hills Pro Gun Club on Sunday, 12/15/13 from 8:00am till ? We will have a shooting bay so you can shoot what ever you bring, handguns, rifles or shotguns. If you have never been there, fees are $10.00 for non club members and you will have to sit through a 15 minute safety video. You can buy targets and rent a target stand for another $10.00 and you get the money back when you're finished and return the stand, (undamaged). To get there, take 95 South right after you pass the Rail Road Pass Casino like you were you going to Searchlight. Then take the first right turn, (about a quarter of a mile) and follow the signs. Hope to see you there.

Sounds good. I see it's open for rifle as well so I'd like to work in some range time with one of mine as well as the pistol

Tim, we will be trying to get one of the ranges where you can shoot both on the same range.

Ok, I'll do the rifle at another time and just bring the pistol for now.

You will be able to shoot both on the same range. I will have my pistol and Shirley's rifle.

Bob, hope you will plan another trip to the range soon. I have a rifle that I picked up
At a gun show and have been wanting to try it out, at something over 100 yrds.
Thanks, Charlie :D

The rifle that I purchased at the Gun Show, had no open sights, but did have the mounts for a scope. What I have been told about the rifle, it is a .243 custom, possibly made in the fifties, heavy barrel, approximately 26” in length, weighing 10/12 lbs. with a Mouser Action, rifle shows little use.

A Nikon scope was selected at the gun shop in Old Henderson, on the seventeenth. The rifle was returned to the shop on the twenty-first after receiving a call that the scope was in. I was told that there were no rings in stock that would be high enough to work and I would receive a call when the rings were in.

My intentions were to purchase a spotting scope also, but I’m beginning to think that the ring problem maybe more serious then I have been told. The spotting scope will have to be put on hold due to my uncertainty. No word from the gun shop at this time.

I am very anxious and excited to fire this weapon and look forward to seeing y’all at the range. Providing it will all come together by then.

Later,

Charlie...

Since Bob and I both recently obtained new "equipment" for Christmas, we will be going back at the range. I'm thinking of Sunday the 12th, hopefully that will give you enough time for your scope to arrive and be installed. I will also check with the Pro Gun Club to make sure they have no functions going on. If they do, we may need to change the date. Again, I'm looking at 8:00AM.

As usual, If anyone else wants to come along, you're more than welcome. :D

The folks at the gun shop have taken all of the fun out of the new (to me) rifle.
Scope has not been installed at this time. They have been informed that I no longer
require there services, or lack there of.
I will have to come up with a new plan, to purchase and install a scope.

Try Bentwood Gunsmithing, 702-545-0884, 180 Cassia Way #507, Henderson, located inside Long Mountain Gun Outfitters Gun shop.....off N. Gibson between 215/American Pacific. http://Www.bentwoodgunsmithing.com. These guys are pros, the work they have done for me has been fast, correct, and the folks on the retail side have been terrific guiding my research. Spurlock's in Henderson actually sent me there when they could not work on one of my guns. It was a great recommendation.

The gunsmith will usually install what they sell/order, or what you purchase elsewhere and bring in. I believe the minimum charge is $30.

Bentwood has done some work for me on an old Browning BAR that wasn't cycling the rounds like it should. I'd second the recommendation to have them look at your rifle.

Thanks for the information, I will keep that on file.
Hopefully, with some luck, scope and rings will be delivered to my home tomorrow.
