I posted this awhile ago in Facebook, but I don't think I ever mentioned it here. This website has free files that open in Google Earth and show the locations and names of mines. They aren't all in there, but loads of them are. A great resource!

And, if any of you aren't using Google Earth, you should be. It's invaluable for planning jeep runs and hikes. Even more fun, with newer GPS models, you can open your tracks in Google Earth. That's one one of the first things I do after a jeep run. I open my track in Google Earth, and see where I went. Often, I see lots of new things that I want to check out the next time I am in the area.

Awesome.....I humbly kneel and kiss your ring. Well, maybe a humble bow and jaunty salute instead. Nice resource!

Oh my, look at all the maps....I think I might have the vapors....not sure if guys can get the vapors, though. Maybe it's something I ate.

This thread is a cornucopia of research resources. If Jim has a ring, I'll kiss it, but won't kneel...I have my pride, after all.

I get a kick out of how D.C., an area of 10 sq miles has 50 mines in it, yet no mapping info is available. https://mrdata.usgs.gov/mrds/select.php?place=fUS11&div=fips Conspiracy theorists unite..! lol
