So....who drilled the hole in the body.....

John, another question about your JK mods. If I recall, you mounted your Oregon GPS on the A pillar. Which base mount did you use, and did you reinforce at all on the backside of the A pillar? I am looking for a cleaner installation than windshield suction cup or dash mount stuck on a metal dash disc, so I can eliminate exposed wires.

Whip looks terrific, something else to add to my list. I always wanted to talk to the space station. Did you install a quick disconnect?

Thanks,

Gary

To all...

I've always known a full length whip was the best antenna you can use. You get the longest range and they look just good. :D I need to pick up a second quick-disconnect, so I can switch between the whip and the shorter fiberglass one I've been using depending the run.

Rubicon Bob came over and helped me install the whip. I'm glad too, because unlike the TJ's, that area on the JK has a double bulkhead. It was too hard to do it by myself. As for the holes... I did that. Even though Bob was fully capable, it was something I had to do.

As for the GPS... It's a Garmin Oregon 450T. We got it and the mount that's made for it at Bass Pro Shops. I have it mounted on the windshield next to the driver's side pillar. It works real good. :D

I'm not sure if I'd be taking suggestions from the sole member of the NBROC

I'm finally getting around to checking this bulletin board, after being out of commission for a few weeks. I go away, and this happens?? All I can say is, welcome to the club!

Hi John - after we talked today on the club run I found the info we discussed. But, I have cell and home, not email info, so here is the link for you and anyone looking in...

http://www.cooltechllc.com/index_jeep.htm

or this might work better (above might have some dead menu links after I just checked it) - http://www.cooltechllc.com/jeep/jk_versamount2.shtml

I'll send a PM, too, I think it sends you an email alert.

Gary
