I'm trying to get ready to join everyone for my first club run later this month.

I just installed a CB but need to tune the antenna. Does anyone living out here in Henderson have one they can help me use to tune it?

Unfortunately, I live in the north part of the valley. If you can't get someone to help, come on out to the run. We can tune it that morning.

Bill...

I can tune your antenna if you want and so can a some others in the club. I live in Henderson near the Fiesta Casino. What type or brand did you purchase? Some types of antennas are easier to tune than others. I get off work at 3:00pm with weekends off. Let me know if I can help. 8)

I have an Everhardt fiberglass antenna.

It may not need much tuning at all, I'm not sure. I say this because just sitting in my driveway, I can hear folks travelling along I-15 / I -95. Maybe tuning affects transmitting or would improve my reception even more.

John, I live near Stephanie and Horizon Ridge, so we are actually pretty close to each other. If you have some time Thurs or Fri after work, that would be great. I will PM you for more info. Thanks.

Tuning an antenna does not help for receiving, it only affects transmitting. That is why we do not have to tune AM and FM antenna. If you do not tune your antenna, you run the risk of blowing your final transmitter in your CB. That effectively makes your CB an expensive paper weight as it is usually more expensive to fix than it is to just buy a new radio.

Well, I can't thank John enough for his help. We were able to tune the antenna, and the CB is working great.

I am really impressed by how many people here offered to help out a "newbie". I think it speaks volumes about the quality of folks in the club. I look forward to meeting more of you on upcomming runs.

You da MAN, John.

If you were impressed by John's work, you should come out to one of the work parties. Now that's impressive. 8)
