Your GPS can't be any cheaper than mine (Tripmate to laptop/Motorola to laptop), but I caught the eTrex yellow from Garmin at this WalMart URL:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... ct_id=1533

They might not have it in the store, but if you order it on-line they ship it to a WallyWorld near you.

Anyone else seen these for less?

wow!!!! that is really cheap. i've had 2 garmin etrex yellows and paid more then that both times. first one was $119, stolen out of my jeep before i got my tuffy center console, and the second was $99, monica's youngest son now uses it for hiking and mountaineering. it's a very good basic bare bones unit and i used it for years, along with a supply of good maps, to find my way around the mojave and great basin. i'm now using a magellan meridin and couldn't be happier except magallen no longer supports the model and replaced it with the explorist. 8)

if i remember it has a backlit screen. i even have an old mount that you may be able to adapt so it doesn't slide around on your dash.

you'll have to sweet talk justin into giving you classes. i can show you some basics but he really knows how to make that particular unit dance.

Paid more than that for the car cord and the Data cable for my Garmin 45 back in the 90's.

I have been an Early Adopter on most Delorme products, back to the "Atlas and Gazeteer" series. Some of their stuff, like the Tripmate (bombproof; buy 'em on eBay for $10 now) were as pivotal as the Garmin 12's and 45's in getting us to use these terrestrially.

But, if you want a hand-held GPS and you're not scared off by the price, their PN-20 is worth a look.

http://shop.delorme.com/OA_HTML/DELibeC ... item=25482

It's ALMOST as good as having a puck and a laptop with TOPO USA in the rig. And a lot less likely to bite the dust from being beaten up.

FYI, if anyone wants one of these, I may still have a Coupon somewhere that knocks a little off the price.

Wow !! I've had one of these things for 2 years and have never really been able to figure it out !! I would like to have some "classes" on how to use it properly... JJ,, let's corner Justin some day and find out what to do... They are fun to use,,, I just don't know how to do the off road stuff... Maybe it's my "CRAFT" problem again... Phil

If you need topo maps, see Geno when he returns, or, if you go to Ely, he has the Garmin topo cd's.

I also have the Garmin TOPO cds. I have burned copies for several people. I will burn you copies if you supply the blank cds.

JJ,, don't waste time getting the CD's,,, there is no computer interface for this unit... You can't upload & download to it... It will only save the basic "breadcrumb" tracks of the runs that you do with it... The only adapter available is for external power to save batteries... Phil

well, breadcrumb tracks are all I basically want and need for now anyway, so this unit suits me just fine.

I'll check into the more expensive units later.
