Ok, we will run War Shield Canyon on 26 Jan. Meet 0900 @ Love’s Truck stop (I-15 north & Hwy 93 Ely Exit); Roll @ 0930. The pre-run went well, we even trimmed back a branch or two in the canyon. Desert pin stripping is light but likely. We will stop at the remnants of an old stone structure, from there we will head over to the petroglyphs. Since it’s kind of a short day, we can spend a little more time at the petroglyphs so folks don’t have to rush. After Lunch we will get back on the road and head over to the West Point Mormon Cemetery. Here’s a little history about the cemetery:
In 1865 Brigham Young dispatched 75 families to the St Thomas area to grow cotton (now under Lake Mead). In the spring of 1868, a small group from St Thomas, led by Andrew Gibbons established West Point, as it was the farthest West of all towns along the Muddy River. Due to harsh conditions it was abandoned in 1871. In 1873, West Point became part of the Moapa River Indian Reservation. In 1986, Lee Huntsman erected a marker similar to one he placed at the St Joseph Cemetery. The original headstone of Elizabeth Allen was replaced with a new marker in 2004 and she has the only identified grave. There are indications of 27 graves but there could be more.

If you plan to go I would like a response to get an idea of how many to expect. Thanks

Be thinking of ideas for a February Club Run.

We just moved back and just bought a used 4x4. Stock Trailblazer with street tires :(
I plan to remove the running boards and mud flaps.
It will be a while before I get better tires but would love to come along if everyone is okay with it.

Does anyone have a GPS track of it they can share?

Thanks,
Mike and Elisabeth.

Hi everyone, Christopher and I went for ride thru war shield canyon Monday; since he was off that day. It was muddy in 2 places; one place I got stuck but I was only in 2WD, put it in 4WD and got right out. It should be more dried up by Saturday. Here's a pic
