From a past run:

Trail:
We'll go to the Mt. Irish Petroglyph site, the ghost town of Logan, the mill site of Crescent, and the Rosario Mine. The Irish site is considered one of the best collections of rock art in southern Nevada. The trail is very easy, I rate it a solid 1.5, due to the fact it's a one lane road at Logan Pass. But a 2 wheel drive high clearance vehicle can do the trail as it's graded on a yearly basis by the BLM. It's also semi short, so we'll have lots of time to explore the 3 'glyph sites and town ruins.

Guys, do you take the trail out from Hiko for this one? I am putting together an overnighter for the fall and want to include this trail as well as the Tempiute area and grab a burger at Rachel. :)

Hey DesertRat, I have the GPS track from the last time we ran this, if you want to see exactly what we did. I can't attach anything here, though. Just send me a line at dawn.nelson@csn.edu if you wan it.

Well if'n you'd have messaged me I could have told yeah

The main road takes off of 318 before Hiko, across from thentrancece to Nesbitt Lake. It's not marked, just a gate through the fence that runs along the highway. Last time I was there, there was a BLM carsonite marker at the gate. All of the 'glyph sites are off of that road, there are 3 main ones and one or two smaller offshoots that are a mile or two from the main road. The road to Logan is unmarked as well, but past the 'glyph sites and just as you start to climb the summit, the road is graded on the left. Once over the summit you come to the cabin for the Rosario Mine. The mine is actually off the main road to the right (north), I think if Dawn can get you the GPS you'll be okay. The road is a little obscure, but I did cut the trees back for the run last year so it should be passable. You might have to back track some from Crescent (the smoke stack is worth it) if you go there to get back to Tempiute, guess it depends on which way you want to go. The Mt. Irish road dumps you out into the Tikaboo Valley and with the ranchers there's roads going everywhere.

Gary,
I think I got it figured out from what Dawn sent me. Looking forward to exploring the area. I think we'll leave there and head over to a large more modern mining site before heading to Delamar for a peaceful night of camping under the stars.

Thanks!!
Nick
