Read down in the article where it says they are erecting and dedicating a new Sunrise Rock Mojave Cross on Sunday. If I'd known I'd have put off my move so I could go. Nice picture of the cross in the article that I couldn't get to copy over. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/11/08/st ... latestnews HALF MOON BAY, Calif. – Authorities say a controversial cross honoring war dead that was stolen from its Mojave Desert perch two years ago has turned up hundreds of miles away in the San Francisco Bay area. The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department was notified Monday that a large cross was tied to a fence post in Half Moon Bay. An attached note asked finders to contact authorities. KGO-TV says the National Park Service confirmed it’s the same cross that vanished from Sunrise Rock in the Mojave Desert. The Sheriff’s Department plans to return it. The cross honoring war dead was taken in 2010 after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled it didn’t violate separation of church and state because the public land it stood on was being transferred to a veterans group. A replacement will be dedicated there on Sunday for Veterans Day. The National Park Service conveyed a small piece of park land to the California Veterans of Foreign Wars on Friday, resolving a long-standing issue over a white cross erected to memorialize American soldiers who died in World War I. Liberty Institute, in conjunction with the VFW and the Mojave Cross’ longtime caretakers Henry and Wanda Sandoz, will host many veterans, dignitaries and supporters in rededication ceremonies. The cross is to be raised at 11 a.m. Sunday with a rededication ceremony at 1 p.m. on Cima Road at the Mojave National Preserve. |

Signs indicate it is private property and a plaque describing the memorial as commemorating all American war veterans will be mounted this week. The area is alongside Cima Road about 12 miles south of Interstate 15. i was thinking of going to the air show....this now has my attention !! anyone else going to go? |

Do you think we would have trouble finding it. I know the area but I don't recall ever seeing the cross. |

I15 south to Cima Road. Go left/east and when you reach the top of the rise, Cima Dome< you will see the area off to the left. It's hard to miss it. |

i just spoke with Linda from National Park Service... it`s a sure thing for Sunday ... the cross will be set in place around 11am with a formal dedication @ 1 pm she advised it may be cold bring warm clothes the site is approx 12. miles away from the 15 i`m curious as to see`n it put back in the ground and am going early who`s going ? |
