Post subject:  Who was that?

I have a mind like a sieve. On the recent run to the Death Valley Mine, I was chatting with someone about tire carriers and gas jerry can carriers. I liked the setup that this person had. I've had two problems so far with the setup that I have, and have decided that's enough. I'd like to know what, exactly, the make of this other setup was. But, for the life of me, I can't remember who I was chatting to about it!

If that was you, let me know.

Or, if anyone has advice on a good tire carrier / jerry can carrier, let me know. My current carrier is a Smittybilt, but it keeps sagging, and the handle sticks. Plus, when I put the Smittybilt I-Rack on, the first thing that happened is that the weld where the tire rack mounted to the bumper almost cracked off. And now today, the part of the I-Rack that holds the tire slipped forward dangerously, even though the bolts were tight.

I am not impressed, nor amused.

But I am forgetful!

I like my setup from Tuff Designs - www.tuffdesigns.com . They only have a TJ version, though.

Dawn, my carrier is from OR-FAB. It did cost about $700, but it doesn't sag, or move around, and holds my spare 31" easily. I bought the one that holds 2 jerry cans. Most important, the jerry cans sit inside the carrier frame, so they are out of harms way off road, or in an accident. I can send pics if you want, but try this link.

Took an afternoon to install. Got mine from 4wheel parts off Decatur.

Dawn: Sorry, not been on this board lately. It was probably me you were talking to. I have a Warn Tire Carrier and got the gas can addition from Max Off Road. It is removable and works great. Can transfer gas directly to the tank without removing the can. Tom can confirm that. Can't recall the price or the make but Clint just happen to have one in stock.

Good Luck Frank
