 Post subject: speedometer not working

hello, well the Speedo is not working on the kids 92 cherokee. we have replaced the cluster and the speed sensor.have any of you guys had this p[roblem and fixed it? any help would nice. thanks Spooner

well the jeep doesn't use a cable. it has a speed sensor that sends a electrical current up to the gauge...

Then I would look for a broken or pinched/shorted wire. Since you've replaced everything on both ends of the curcuit the problem has to be in between. Also check the ground for the cluster. Just my 2 cents worth

hey Brad where is the ground for the cluster at...i've checked the groud straps from motor to firewall and it's good..

Hey Spooner,, not to be a smartass, but did you check for a blown fuse ?? According to my Chilton's manual, fuse #7 controlls "Gauges, seat belt warning, instrument cluster (1992), headlight delay module (1992), chime module (1992)".. It's a 7.5 amp fuse... Maybe... Phil

Hey Phil, we checked all the fuses. All the gauges work except the temp. and speedo..and we have two clusters that we are working with.. thanks and any one trying to help is never a smartass.
