at All times!!!

Third Rule

your spotting

Forth Rule

your ability and your Jeeps

One of my worst nightmares on video. I feel this is a great example of the "yeah sure you can do it" mentality in our sport. Both the spotter and the driver did not have the experiance to be attempting this decent in my opinion. The stock Rubi didn't appear to have the front swaybar disconnected so there was no travel from the suspension. And in my opinion the spotter is a total *^%#+@& and shouldn't have been the one spotting her, but he may have been a friend and someone she "trusted". Bet she doesn't trust him in the future.

JMO, but there are a lot of folks out there that do not take a drivers experiance, or lack there of, into the equation when inviting someone to go along on a particular trail. That's when things like this happen. Glad to hear she is healing, but will she ever go offroading again?

I will step off of my soapbox now and go cool off

It looks like she didn't do what the spotter was trying to tell her to do in the beginning anyway. But I agree, failure on both sides.

One interesting issue, the way the Jeep took off after the first roll leads me to think it wasn't in 4lo and 1st gear as it should have been. It might have been knocked out of gear during the roll, but I still wonder if it ever was in the right gear to start. Probably was in drive and maybe high range.

It does show that having some form of roll protection saved her from worse injuries.

Not knowing the driver, I can only speculate that she was in over her head on this trail.

The spotter was not using standard hand signals in guiding her down.
When he was moving and did not have his hands up providing direction, she should have stopped.
Not being there, do not know if they did a drivers meeting to discuss this specific hill or not.
If I was leading the trail ride, I would have held a specific brief on this hill at the top.
The briefing would have talked about hand signals to be used, position of the transfer case, and gear box.
The jeep took off way to fast to be in low and first for being a rubicon.

The jeep looks like it held up really well in the first roll. The hit on the end is where most of the damage came from and probably the issues with the driver.

Here are some pictures from the roll-over our club had at Panamint last year.

The lessons we learned, was to be prepared. We had all the typical first aid kits and CB radios.
But the driver had a major laceration on her head, and all the small bandages were used up before the cut was fully covered.
Had to send a vehicle down the hill almost back to base camp to get communications about the roll-over.
Once we had a ham radio up to the accident scene, things still did not improve.
Roll-over happened at about 3:30, and she was not airlifted out until about midnight.
Most of us in the club are working to complete our ham certification.

That was the jeep that rolled on chicken corner.

Lots of good info in the video about how not to spot.
Lessons for all.
