I have a noise happening when I push IN the clutch pedal.

kinda like a friction/ rubbing/ grinding sorta sound -- not at all like what I am told the throwout bearing sounds like. The clutch fluid reservoir is full and the Jeep so far drives normal.

anyone? anyone?

Bueller...Bueller.

my clutch/throwout bearing makes noise when I leave it in neutral with out depressing the clutch.

On a run I had several people listen they said no worries. !0 months later noise remains, runs and shifts fine.

It's the throw out bearing or the pilot bearing or both.

Not sure what the noise is, but thought I'd just relate my experience with my only hydraulic clutch failure.

Nothing.

As in no clutch. And it was sudden and without warning.

The vehicle was a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 4x4 pickup w/5 speed manual transmission. The truck had over 130,000 miles on it and it was the original clutch. Everything felt and sounded normal. Pulled up to a stop light ~ gearing down as I approached as I always do ~ and pushed in the clutch for the final stop with the truck in 1st gear. And the truck kept going and I instinctively hit the brake and the truck stalled.

I tried to start the truck when the light turned green, the clutch depressed, the starter lurched the truck forward and it lit and went on down the road.

The next light, everything was normal. Then the next light, the clutch was out again. And so on.

I had the clutch replaced about a week later. It was simply worn out. But with the hydraulics, you just aren't aware of it happening like in the old days of manual clutch adjustment as it wears.

Bad news JJ it is going out. How many miles on that clutch? If the throw out bearing is making noise it is time too replace it. Adams Driveline will check it out for free and give you a replacement price.
Replace the clutch and have the flywheel surfaced at the same time.

yeah, Dave, I took it to Adams today and they're going to take care of it on Thursday.

almost 125,000 miles.

I'd do it tomorrow, but I got that job interview to drive to and work.

JJ that clutch would have lasted about 50000 miles longer if it didn't have the extra drag of those mudflaps for all those years.
