One of the first production Mac CAIs.

Equip list
Ported throttle body
Cat back with Bullit muffler.
35s
5:13 gears
4 speed auto

First impressions... I really like it.

I was able to chirp the 35's. Never been able to do that before.
Has a very throaty sound, kind of like a prop plane taking off.
I can now accelerate from 60 to 80 on a small up hill grade without down shifting out of OD.
The engine seems more responsive when you need the extra power. Noticed an increase in the mid power band.
When you open up the throttle, you know you have added an upgrade. The sound is incredible.
And it is so nice to have clean filtered air coming into the cabin.
We probably blew out 3 or 4 oz of dust out of the vents. It was really bad. I hate having to blow them out after every run. Coats everything inside with dust.

Girlfriend drove it last night. Said it seemed to run smoother. She really liked it as well.

Overall, very happy so far.

Great job Mac.

How about the fuel consumption? Probably haven't had time to tell yet huh?

Yeah, and I have only had the 35s and 5:13 on for about 2 months, so haven't gotten a good read. If I can get anything above 10mpg I will be doing good.

I get about 13 or so if it would help even a little, the wife might go for it.

And now my confusions starts. Does this move the engine air intake to the cowl area?

Yes, the air is now drawn from above the cowl. So it is a true Cold Air Intake.

AND, It is a double filter system, so not only are you filtering the air into the engine, you are also filtering the air entering the cabin. No more dusty vents after a run. Bonus.

Sounds great. How much and how long to install it? Did you do it or have Mac put it on?

Post subject:

You will have to contact Mac for pricing and availability. I know there is a waiting list for them.

Mac walked me through it, but I did the cutting and such. Install took about 3.5 hours, but I could do it in about 2 now.

I am available to assist with installs if anyone gets one and would like some help.

Looks sweet, I've been wondering how this was going to turn out. Is the scoop reversible? Where I live it will trap snow between the scoop and wind shield, probably not so good.

You could reverse it, but it would force water in if it were raining.
There is an optional plate that can be used to route water off the lower filter for snow buildup.
