I have a few questions for the more knowledgeable among us.

I know all about vibes and lifts, but why does my TJ only shake in first gear?

does it have to do with the gearing, or is it just that since I had it lifted, the driveline angles? this is solved with a slip-yoke eliminator and new driveshaft correct?

is something going to wear out prematurely if I don't do anything about it?

I've been living with it, but it's just kind of annoying in traffic.

not a good ideato "just live with vibes"

slip-yoke eliminator and new driveshaft <---- is good

proper drive shaft angle with adjustable control arms <-----is best.

You only notice it in 1st gear because thats the highest torque load ( getting moving from slow or no speed ). Mac is right the slip yoke elim & d shaft will take most of it out. If you add adjustable control arms with it then it should fairly vibe free. It will never ride like it did stock or like a car, once in awhile we get people that expect a lifted jeep to ride like the family sedan.

actually, with my particular lift, it rides wonderful.....I just need to find a fix for the vibes before something else blows up unexpectedly.

Joe and I put a 4" lift on my Rubi which then created vibes so I went to Maximum Offroad and had them put a Tom Woods d/s in as well as adjustable upper control arms that help turn the d/s to the correct angle and now it runs nice even at highway speeds. yeah, vibrations can't be a good thing over time. with only a 2 " lift you might only need the d/s and SYE

They will help the rear driveline angles, I'd try that 1st but each jeep is a bit different - might also need SYE, CV rear driveshaft & adjustable upper rear control arms.

Also compare Jesse @ High Angle Driveline www.highangledriveline.com - I've been very happy with his work on my past Jeeps

will do. I don't have a pile of cash laying around right now (at least not yet), especially after my rear axle took a dump.

If you only have a 2" lift you may need to check a few other things before you spend the money on a SYE and a Woody. You usually don't need those until you go up 4" or more. I would suggest coming over and let us take a look at it we may find the source to your vibration it could be a pinion angle is off or maybe your tracking is off. Do you have a adjustable tract bar in the rear? If your rear end has moved over it could cause a vibration. Also you could have thrown a wieght off your driveline and caused it to be unbalanced. There is a fully cabable driveshaft shop here in town Adams Driveshaft in Henderson 568-5680.
