nice idea but lets throw in a few 4x4 potential problems. :? first one is it looks fairly large, a clearance issue with skidplates may occur. also, being rather large and hanging off the back of the oil pan on a vehicle without skidplates it's just asking to be smacked by a rock. this could result in a damaged or torn oil pan leaking badly on the trail. second issue is the valve itself. looks like it operates with some tight tolerances. with all the dirt, dust, and mud we take our vehicles through i can see the little lever not wanting to lift & turn one day. just some things to think about. 8)

If it will fit with the skid plate this plus the hose may be a solution on my Jeep. Every oil change they make a huge mess on the skid and eventualy a mess everywhere I go.

i ended that problem by doing 2 things. first, i installed a fram sure drain kit on the oil pan. kind of a replacement drain plug with a flow thru valve and a length of hose that fits through the hole in the skidplate. however it drains through a smaller hole and therefore takes looooonger to drain which makes the guys at the terribles quick lube unhappy. so the second thing i did was do all my own oil changes. i did have terribles do it once with the fram installed and when the oil is hot it drains fairley quick so you could carry the hose in the jeep and watch the oil change guy scratch his head when he sees the fram sure drain and can't figure out what to do. 8)

I change oil for a living on heavy equipment and this is one of the best valves I like. VERY EASY TO USE!!!!!! These pictures make them look bigger than they are. As for dirt and leaking, or coming open never seen it in 12 years. We work with Catapillar alot and they trust it!! We also have them on a couple of water trucks with pretty low clearance, have seen dents in the oil pans but the valve in perfect condition. They do drain a little slower also.

if you end up getting one of these and it works let me know. I just put one of those skid plates on then had the oil changed and, yes, I now have oil all over the place.
