I am need to get my pickup from Las Vegas to Pioche. I am trying to find a tow bar, or a trailer to use. No one rents tow bars any more, and the trailers are not big enough.

My pickup is a 1973 Dodge, crew cab, 4X4, (It's just HUGE).

I should be able to use a big Ford Diesel from my work to pull it. I just need something to put it on/ hook it up too....

I could drive it out here, but it would take all day, I would need a tanker of gas, and it would more than likely beat me to death!

Does anyone have any IDEAS

Would a tow dolly from U-haul work?
You could drop the rear drive shaft for towing it that way?
I also think that U-haul also has full car trailers for rent also.

Some of us have tow bars but they are rated up to 5000 lbs. I think your truck might weight more than that. They work good for towing a Jeep but I don't think it would hold up towing a truck that size.

What's the maximum outside measurement of your tires? BTW the front should be the widest of the axles. Also, would you have smaller tires to bolt onto the front if they are big off roader tires (35", etc)? If not, what's the bolt pattern?

My Dad has a wide dolly, and his old U-Haul tow Bar (the only good thing he kept from his dealership). Then you'd just have to find a truck to tow it if either will work.

Dennis,

I haven't been able to get on the forum for awhile. I have a tow bar that is solid that you could bolt on to your bumber. It is solid steel. You can have if you could use, or use it any way. Let me know.

Geno

Thanx Geno, I have sent Gary a couple of E-Mails, I am just waiting to hear back from him. I may also have an auto transport company bring it out, I got a quote for $270 this morning. We will see what happens in the next few days.

I emailed you back today, your mail keeps getting sent to my SPAM folder so I didn't see you replied till I saw this post. Spammer, spammer spammer! Image

BTW, $270 don't seem too bad if you can get them to guarantee the price within reason. Figure at least a tank up (Caliente Summit will kill your mileage) and at least a half back to return the truck Diesel at $3.00+ a gallon adds up. Plus a good long day driving back and forth.

Thanks for all the offers for help guy's :) , but my work was getting jumpy, so Michelle and I went and got it. I drove it out, and it ran great (did between 70 and 80 mph about the entire trip)
