most of you are aware i grabbed some folks and ran wheeler pass on tuesday. we didn't see any wild horses but there was lots of poop so they are still around. the willow creek area where people used to park and picnic or camp is now fenced off. seems too many folks were going through the creek and around the barriers that forest service put up. so now there's about a 5' tall/5 steel cable fence all the way around it. the fence at the turn under the big cottonwood tree has been dropped from 3 cables to 2 so the dirt bikes and atv's can't get into the water but the horses can get over to get a drink. the main trail (fs road 601) to the summit is still pretty much a level 1.5 with some level 2 in spots. the low road on this side has had some rocks moved around and rates a hard 2.5 but is ok for a stock vehicle if you watch your line. long wheelbase or real low suv's may want to stick to the main trail until the low road gets beat down a little. the low road (fs road 601) on the pahrump side through the trees to wheeler well is probably a level 2 at the most and the main trail is well graded all the way to pahrump. all in all wheeler pass is a go for wheelin'. :D ps, the baskin-robins ice cream shop inside terribles casino is gone. :( but we found a new ice cream shop that's even better. :D it's called lois lane's and it's behind the albertson's near the cop shop. floats, sundaes, cones, and cups. uummmmm good. and the lady that owns it, her name really is lois, is a jeeper that's done some trails in moab. 8)

I work with a guy that lives in Cold Creek. He said they just depleted the herd some, so there weren't so many up there fighting for water and food and getting hit. They have done that numerous times in the past as well.

Glad to hear the roads is in good shape. I'd like to try the road from Wheeler to Stirling someday soon.
