And if you ever get a chance to watch the discovery show called like Venom ER. It is pretty good, and they profile people who have been bitten and the treatment they recieved.

They have talked about the increase in the toxcicity of the toxins of rattle snakes.

Like Mac, I think I will stay in my jeep.

Talk to Geno about when we both about stepped on a rattler in Lake Isabella while looking for gold. It was about 6 feet long, and would have put a hurt on either one of us.

here's a fact to make everyone feel a little better about rattlesnakes. they don't inject venom everytime they strike unless they're hunting. when strikeing in self-defence they only inject venom about once for every 5 strikes. now you just have to guess if you're numbers 1 thru 4 or unlucky number 5. this is vegas after all people 8) also adult rattlers most likely won't give you a full dose if they do inject venom. however, baby rattlers will almost allways inject all the venom they have everytime they strike. and baby rattlesnakes are born with as much venom as an adult. kids!

A pair of leather rattlesnake shin guards might be a good investment if you plan on walking around out here in the rocks. I've run across a few rattlers while out and about in So Cal deserts and haven't been bothered by them but I did keep my distance and didn't try to test the limits of the snake's tolerance. Just keep your ears out for the sound of running water where there isn't running water then watch out. There is probably a rattler near by and you've pissed it off causing it's rattle to shake.

Seen many rattlesnake bites in the ER, and I'm here to tell you that the article is correct: Most bites are NOT accidental. Most come from from young, fairly drunk men (never had a female with a snake bite) that are "going to get that snake!"
