The key to an automatic lockeris when making a turn STAY OFF the gas. Let the Jeep coast through the corner. Auto lockers will lock both axles together when power is applied. I know this from driving my pickup.

You are correct in that post Bob. This is not my first rodeo with an auto locker. My old Chevy pick-up had a Detroit in the rear axle. This locker is far more violent than that one was.

For some reason the springs in my locker are not strong enough and after a short while it starts slipping. It does it so bad that the Jeep loses forward progress all together.

Interestingly, I just read that when a luchbox locker fails to lock you lose drive in that axle altogether. Sounds really familiar. It also says that a Detroit E-Z (same as what I had with a different name) is a very violent locker on the street. I can attest! I will not be purchasing another lunchbox locker for my TJ. Just thought I would pass that along. 8)

There's a good article on lockers in the new JP Magazine. I looked through it and read a few. You are absolutely correct on the lunchbox locker. It is rated very low on street use, and not recommended for SWB vehicles. And yes, if you damage or break something, you loose all forward and reverse abilities, thus leaving you stranded.

Save your money and get an OX Brand locker.

When I get up the money to have a new rear axle built it will have an ox locker. Until then I am sporting an open Dana 35.
