Sorry about the short notice. From my understanding, there is suppose to be meteor showers late this week and weekend. So let's do a night run to Mormon Well to see if we can get a glimpse of any falling stars. With minimal moonlight expected, we should be able to have some good viewing, I hope.

Meet at the Corn Creek Ranger Station at 5:30 PM. Roll out @ 6 PM.

From what I understand, Mormon Wells is closed past the campground due to being washed out. This is from the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service as of 2 July, 2015.

"Mormon Well Road:
Mormon Well Road is closed at Sawmill Canyon due to flood damage. Desert Pass Campground can be accessed from US-95 on Mormon Well Road, although the road is not passable through to US-93. As always, back country travel using high clearance vehicles is strongly recommended. Four wheel drive may be required in Sawmill Canyon due to loose gravel conditions."

This may no longer be the case, but I am putting this here for information only, not to try to discourage the run.

As far as I know, it is still closed at Sawmill Canyon due to washouts. On the way to and from Ely, you can see the damage along Hwy 93 from the washes that head towards Sawmill So this will be an in and out type run. The campground at the top is open if anyone may want to camp overnight.
