OK! Let's keep cool and run Wheeler Pass at night. We'll meet at the Cold Creek turnoff at 7:00 pm and leave at 7:30 on 8/21/10 Saturday. It will be near a full moon, so we may not need lights!
If you start at the Spaghetti Bowl, the turn off is about 30 miles north on US 95. It's the turn for the prison.
Hope to see you there!

I'm in. We just did it a few weeks ago. I can't wait to do it at night.

BTW. Here's a picture of a broken down Ford Freestyle. This is about 3 miles from the pass on the Cold Creek side.

I'm in!!! I have a question about the plan though. Are we going to Pahrump and back on the same trail or a different trail each way? I haven't been up there so I don't know what trails are available. Either way I am excited about it!

Ran the pre-run last night. The trail has changed over the last Winter. I'm rating this a solid "2", and upping it to "2.5" in the dark (even though the official Backroader Raing Scale doesn't account for the dark). Bring a flashlight and jackets. It was COLD last night on top, and at the well. We started at 6:30 and finished around 10:30. We start at 7:30 on Saturday, so figure at least midnight before we reach Pahrump.
Hope to see everyone there!

Last night saw horses, deer, fox, jack rabbits, and night hawks. Very cool!

OK Im officially in .

I will also be willing to show ya'll the ponderosa exit if your game

I've been using it to exit wheeler wash for the last year or so.

it avoids the long dusty county rd 21 down to pahrump and replaces it with an easy c2 trail that leads down from wallace canyon to carpenter canyon rd just east of the fenceline trail.

It does have one obstacle that might be considered c2.5 but is in no way undoable by any attentive driver in a stock 4x4 w/ lo transfer
