I know an optional exit that goes up into wallace canyon across the ponderosa area and to carpenter canyon road over to trout canyon rd via fence line trail then up over the pass and down lovell canyon rd towards rocky gap road then either over rocky gap rd or down lovell canyon to 160. from CC to 160 via this route is about 70 or so miles. if you use the optional route down into wheeler wells then you chop a few miles off that.

this is a fun off road route back around to LV and the only pavement is the last little bit there at red rock or from lovell canyon And 160 back into town. Any competant off road driver should be able to handle this route. however there are some inclines and declines into washes that place it outside the strict guidelines of a club run. on the high side you almost completely avoid the dustout that comes with the run down hwy 21 into pahrump.

I highly recommend it

Hey,
A few of us are going up to Wheeler Pass next Thursday on July 2. I was looking for a map of the trail since none of us have been up there and I stumbled upon this forum. Could anyone bring back a mark off of the trail your took? Thanks.

This is great, I've been looking for a local group for a long time. I live near Blue Daimond and Rainbow.

How many rigs are scheduled for the run this Saturday?

Enjoy the run.

don't know how many are scheduled. we'll see who shows up and roll with it.

there are many club members that do not post here very much that will show.

I will be there, bringing my two bosses. They will be in a Dodge Ram 2500 with a Hemi four wheel drive. Street tires. I was wondering if they will have any problem climbing up to the top?

I know the rest of the trail will be a piece of cake for them. Just concerned about the first half of the trip. They are so looking forward to run.

From what I recall you should be fine but hopefully someone will chime in as I tend to think things are easier than they are at times. Potato ridge though I would by-pass in that truck.

I drive an open diff 2wd=(1wd) ranger and I went up and over with JJ last week, other than having to allow enough space for the required 1wd skinny pedal, I had no problems, I do run BFG MT's, but only one of them push, I would suspect most 4wd's would have no trouble with tires, short of excessive skinny pedal combined with poor steering instinct (running right into a sharp rock with one's sidewall) I expect stock full size would be fine, though, I have never actually driven a full size.

 But I knew where the wash was, and I wouldn't have gone that way to win(I mean lose) a bet  .

potato?

as far as I know there is only one way over Potato.

on Wheeler, there is a point where the road descends into a wash. it's not HARD, but it bounces you around.

and there is a go around for those that want to go that way.

Thanks JJ for leading. It was a great day. Sure was busy on that trail today, guess we were not the only ones trying to get out of the heat.
