Thanks to all, the girls and I had a great time. It was their first time out in the dirt and they loved it. They were troopers and picked up a lot of trash. They even want to go again! I will have my pictures posted up later, I still have to upload to webshots. Chris

yesterday was great.
weather was perfect, not too hot and some wind, rain and double rainbows to finish the run down the mountain pass.
met new members and got to catch up with old friends.
on the trip down the mountain was able to see the difference we made on the trail.
we also met some folks camping or driving up for the day as we were leaving and were able to share our favorite parts of the trail to those who can appreciate the open lands that are what makes this area special.
thanks to rex, bob, tom and the others who worked on this with amy the ranger for mormon well to make this happen.

Quick Trail and Activity report:

I did stop at pine nut road for a few minutes but then our small group of 3 vehicles continued from there through peek-a-boo canyon for 5 miles and collectively picked up what amounted to a very large garbage sack full of trash.

all told the NVbackroaders picked what amounted to a full sized truckload of garbage off the first 25 miles of the mormon trail from I95 to the campground near the top of the trail. This campground containes 4 or 5 single sites and which, I felt, are very well maintained.

some notable items included a muffler and tail pipes and a smashed up alloy wheel. not any tires were found but lots of bottles and cans were removed.

the trail itself is in perfectly good shape with the northern 17 mile stretch being noteably rougher and more rutted than the western 21.

I personally couldnt rate this trail any higher than a mild 2 but some off shoots and washes may offer somewhat more challanging terrain.

A very nice senic ride with Day Use picnic area & dry camping usually avalible in the DNWR USF&G Clark County Nevada

Is it just me, or do these two look like traveling snake oil salesmen?
