Spend the weekend in Ely, NV. The Backroaders have adopted a cabin on Mt. Moriah that needs a little repair. It has been a couple of years since we have had to do any repairs.

More details to follow.

We will know how much will need to be done. It looked like it may have to be painted again. A few roof shingles may have to be replaced also. It will be a great weekend up Mt Moriah.

the drive up to the cabin is quite a beautiful trailride. the cabin sits at around 9000 elevation and the drive up there is amazing. it's surrounded by very old growth quakeing aspens and we've seen elk and pronghorns on previous trips. after the work detail get someone to take you out to the hiking trailhead for the table. the view of the summit of mt. moriah is awsome. if you go to the old photo gallery on this site take a look at june 2004 dog spring cabin.

in the past we've met the reps from usfs at majors place, they supply the materials and we supply the labor, and go up to the cabin in a group. we've grilled hot dogs for lunch and come back to ely once the work is done for dinner. the cabin is open however if someone wanted to stay there after the work party. it's been getting some good use by the hunters and folks that hike out on to the table area of the mt. moiah wilderness. things may be differant this year but we won't know until we get up on the mountain to see what needs to be done. once everything is settled it'll be posted here. 8)

If we have enough people to work we may be able to get done early. We could come back the back way, which is a little more challanging. Will be glad to see every body again soon.
