June's ride is coming up fast. Sunday, June 10, 2018 has been chosen. Sorry for the short notice but the sooner, the cooler. We will be going to Carpenter Canyon* via Lovell Canyon. We plan is to stop for lunch at Carpenter Canyon and we hope the elevation of around 6000' and shade trees will make for a comfortable lunch. We will continue on to Wallace Canyon for a quick stop before heading down to pavement just east of Pahrump.

We meet at 8 am on the SW side of the Valley at the Chevron where Highway 160 meets Highway 159: https://goo.gl/maps/eLJ22UWasnv
Driver's meeting at 8:15, roll at 8:30. If all goes well we should be back to pavement (near Pahrump) by 4 pm or so, BUT it certainly could be later if we have issues.

This ride is stock friendly but there will be some desert pin striping and there will be a lot of trail miles. Average street tires not recommended. We do recommend starting the ride with a full tank of fuel. All club rules are important of course, ( viewtopic.php?f=8&t=528 ) rule number 10 will be very important on this ride:
10. EQUIPTMENT: VEHICLE IN GOOD OPERATING ORDER
SPARE TIRE, JACK, LUG WRENCH MANDATORY
TOW HOOKS FRONT AND REAR - MANDATORY
FIRE PROTECTION - MANDATORY
ROLL OVER PROTECTION - MANDATORY ROLL OVER BARS OR FULLY ENCLOSED STEEL CAB
SEAT BELTS FOR ALL OCCUPANTS - MANDATORY
FIRST AID KIT - MANDATORY
CB RADIO - RECOMMENDED <<<< very recommended!
TOW STRAPS - MANDATORY

* Carpenter Canyon is a canyon on the western side of the Spring Mountains, partially within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, in Clark County, southern Nevada west of the Las Vegas Valley.

Carpenter Canyon is very scenic. Will the club be driving to the end of the road in Carpenter Canyon in the dry wash/creek bottom?

If you mean the end of the road up in the mountains, high elevation and big pines, then yes. If you mean the end of Carpenter Canyon Road down to, or in from Hwy 160 then no. I have pre-run it twice last week.

Great run, thank you Jeff! That spot for lunch was so beautiful, nice and cool. A new antenna has already been ordered to replace our broken one

I hope all of my Nevada Backroader friends have enjoyed the monthly runs, fun runs, and pre runs in my absence! I miss those fun times, scenic views, and old mines and towns! I have my Jeep here in Maine and will start doing trips to the backwoods this coming fall after my health is back to 100%. My ablation was a success and I'm feeling better each day and hope all of you are healthy! Nothing sucks as not being able to do your favorite things when your health is poor! Love you guys and don't be surprised if I show up one of these times! happy Backroading, JC.
