I have a few family member's visiting from frigid Ohio and they want to get out and see some sights so I am taking them for a tour.

Meeting at the Chevron/Jack-in-the-box at exit 59 Horizon Drive, off 93/95/515 at 8am leave at 8:30a. We will doing some trails around Nelson to Knob Hill and then across the mountain on Electric Ave to the lake and then back into Nelson.

Trail rating is no more than a 2 with good chances of desert pinstripe on Wranglers and definitely on larger vehicles. A few obstacles to get up and over but not hard.

I will not be running through any mud while at the lake no matter how much egging on anyone gives me. :P I've learned my lesson.

Bring a lunch and drinks. We will hopefully be done by 4pm depending on stops and the number of vehicles.

I know the Nelson area fairly well and it is a neat place... Hope you show me some trails I haven't run before... Thanks for the chance to get out in the dirt... Phil

Get on the 95 heading south from Lake Mead Drive exit 61, on the south end of town. The next exit off 95 is exit 59 (not 57 like previously stated) Horizon Drive exit. Make a right hand turn. At the light is Horizon Ridge Parkway. Make a right and Chevron is on the right as soon as you make the turn onto HR Parkway. It's the exit between Lake Mead Drive and College exits. It's a good place to gas up and grab some grub at Jack-in-the-box or the Chevron store. I fixed the main post, too.

Sorry for the confusion. So people know the freeway as 93, some 95 and still some 515. It's all the same that's why I put it like that. My bad.

Hey Joe,
you might want to revise the Lake Mead Drive part of your post. Henderson has changed the name to Lake Mead Parkway. To me, since I have lived here so long, it will always be LM Drive. I know this just adds to the confusion.

I wanted to go, Joe, but some stuff came up and I've got too much to do with being gone next weekend for the camping trip and the following weekend for NASCAR. Hope you all have fun!!

I'll try to be there, but don't wait around if I don't show.

There for a while I didn't think you were coming along, Al. Nothing like making me sweat a little. Geez!! :P

Allan, I'm pretty sure your Grand would be fine. You'll probably get some desert pinstipe layed down the sides. The obstacles are fairly easy with a little spotting if needed. :D

Hey, Bob, thanks for that tid-bit of info. I was getting the name of the road off my GPS programs. I could never remember if it was drive or Blvd. Come to think of it, I remember the signs saying Pkwy. It's Lake Mead non-the-less.

Awesome run today, Joe. I couldn't believe how clear the lake was. I hope your family had fun.

Thanks to all who showed up to enjoy the day. It was a fun run and especially fun for my family. They enjoyed the whole time and everyone's company, too.
