Couple of warnings:

They are under a snow advisory for 5000 feet till Monday Night. Some of the places you are talking about hitting will be very bad in heavy rains, so keep a very good eye on the weather.

Ella Mtn. (fire look out) is snow packed and impassable in numerous places, or so I was told by BLM yesterday.

Gas is cheaper in Caliente than Alamo or Ash Springs.


Just got home from pre-running the National Trails Day run I'm planning. Hit a lot of 2 foot snow drifts on the backside of Highland Peak outside of Pioche around the 7000 foot mark, so I can believe the Ella conditions.

Gary,thanks for the heads up...with no peeps able to or wanting to go we decided to just stay local and ran up Lucky Strike Canyon,the first two were on the way up the rest are once we got back down to a more moderate level,it was snowing really good up where we turned around at,here area a few pics!!
