i was going to do this on sunday but my plans got changed. so anyway, i'm going to pre-run arrow canyon before hump & bump and decided this was the day i have free to do it. if you're interested we'll meet in glendale at the sinclair gas/mini-mart/cafe at 0830 and roll at 0900. i'm not sure what the rains have done to the trail so that's the reason for this trip. it was a 1.5 tickleing a 2 in april when we ran it for cj's birthday and i'm hopeing it's not any worse. plan on about 6 hours on the trail so bring lunch with. if you have questions call me at 497-9154. 8)

Brad-

The only two spots that were iffy when we ran it in August where coming out of the canyon and into the gravel wash, mostly as it moved enough gravel to "hide" the path through it, especially at night

The other, and I feel this was the worst part, and likely has worsened, is the wash crossing you drop into just before Warshield Canyon by that old mine site. It was getting a bit rough through there, plus the tamarisk was pretty heavy right there.

It was still a solid 1.5, but you're right, it might be higher now due to those spots. The trail into the canyon wasn't too bad really, you could see where flooding had occurred, but it looks like there are some avid ATV riders up there keeping the trail somewhat distinguishable and clear, at least through Arrow Canyon.

hi brad,
thanks for a fun day.
Glad we could make a change in plan with the Arrow Canyon closure.
Mormon Well is always one of my favorites, it was one of the first i traveled with my jeep when it was stock; of course now i know more of the history thanks to you.
best part, no ticks found during the post run shower.
looking forward to the next chance to follow the smiley face jeep.

Arrow Canyon has been confirmed to be closed.
we tried to run it today, the owner of the road leading to it flagged us down and gave us the head's up.
between private parties and BLM, it seems we lose out.
see mr. brad for full details.

So how bad was Mormon hit from the fires?

Also, can you run Arrow from the backside to the closure? Likely you guys didn't find that one out. but it's interesting that owners can shut down a BLM road now. I was still under the impression they had to grant road access.

The guy that lives right there (BRADY THOMAS A & KAREN) owns the 40 acres that the trail cuts through - he just doesn't like everyone cutting through there because of all the trash and vandles to the glyphs. The first part of the dirt just off the pavement is owned by Nevada Power. The rest is BLM land. So you could run it backwards and you would have to back track out or find another way out that doesn't cross private property. There looks to be some trails that skirt his property to the north and then south to the wash.
Maybe we could strike a deal with him - a clean up project in return for trail access.

the trail is not closed because of tom brady. i spoke with him yesterday and he still stands by the "gentleman's aggrement" we've had for accessing the trail via his property. i also talked to blm via my cell phone while i was talking to mr. brady and the reason the canyon is closed is because of the creation of the arrow canyon wilderness and the final setting of the boundry's. the ranger that had told me the trail would be cherry stemed was wrong when he told me that. i'll be getting all the info out once i've cleared up a few more things with blm, like where the boundry is coming in from the north over dead bug butte. 8)
