Had a great time. As always an awesome run. Mom now says she wants a Jeep. She even enjoyed the rock garden.

I'm glad everybody showed up. I had fun taking everyone out. Hopefully, Kurt will figure out what his problem was. And Lucy is going to get her Jeeps problem taken care of soon.

I had a blast and felt comfortable taking some of the harder lines which is usually a little out of character for me. It was an awesome run and I really needed it. Thank Bob!!

Did anyone figure out what the problem is with Lucy's Rubi?? I did notice the sway bar making grinding marks on the frame horns. Mine did that too when I lifted it. I just put hose clamps on the inside of each sway bar bushing; after I centered it of course. It hasn't rubbed since and it's a cheap fix.

Also, after putting 35's on it, the tires rubbed the sway bar when making a hard turn and flexing, so i had to move the disconnect mounts up higher so the sway bar is more out of the way. I haven't had any rubbing there since I did that.

Most definitely this was a great run! Thanks, Bob, for both your leadership & rewinding my winch. The rock garden was AWESOME and even though it looked scary at first (it has been a while since I was out), it WAS a piece of cake! Club spotters in this situation made it fun for everyone.

My "Ruby Green" does have a minor problem that went on for a long time and chewed up the front tires. They have 13,000 miles on them (much of it off-road), so it is time for new ones, anyway.

Thanks, Joe, for both the photos & your input on a similar problem on your ride. I should have the glitch resolved soon. I look forward to the next run.

 :D It was really great seeing you out on this run, Lucy. I hope you can go more often. If you ever need any help with your Jeep, just ask. :D

Lucy

Without looking at your Rubi, I can only guess as to the issue, but if you need to replace the tires after 13k miles, sounds as though something is out of alignment in the front end!
Do you know how to check your toe-in?
Here is about one of the best writeups dealing with a front end alignment:
http://www.4x4xplor.com/alignment.html

Hope this helps.

I am scheduled to take my jeep in to Maximum Offroad on Wed. afternoon. They just did a front-end alignment on it last month & I noticed some tire damage then - but (at the time) I thought it was caused by rough off roading. Then I got my tires balanced & rotated right after that - so - who knows? Nobody at these places said anything else was wrong - but - something is a problem.

All the tips & theories I am getting in writing I am printing to share with the "experts" :? It is still a mystery to me - while I appreciate the link....hmmmm... what???...

Thanks for your input!

For the curious - epilogue on my tire issue -

Over time, tires become damaged when they are not aired down enough for the loose rock / steep hill type encounters. I was told the pattern on the tires is classic for the mistake of spinning over inflated tires on rocks. Oops.

The noise from the front end? Easy fix - they recentered the sway bar disconnect & moved the "snub" (whatever that was). As always, Maximum Offroad was very nice to me and it didn't cost me a thing. I was done in 15 minutes.

Now I'm ready to go!

Update on my fluid leak problem.... Sorry Tim & Ed for the oily windshields... As it turns out ,, I finally discovered that it was the oil pressure sending unit that was leaking... It got worse as the week progressed (god knows how many people are cursing me now from driving the freeway,, 5 days back and forth to work !!!)... Well,, $42 later, it's fixed... Now all's left is the degreaser spray and wash tomorrow and it's a done deal... I've never seen a presure sensor leak like that,, quit working,,, Yes,,, but not leak like a sive... Oh well,,, I guess with 207K miles you have to be ready for anything.... Phil
