Ok, boys and girls. I am putting together a weekend trip up to St. George over the Labor Day weekend. Glenna and Barb (Backroader members from St. George) will be gracious enough to show us some very scenic trails in the southern Utah area. We'll see how gracious they'll be after putting up with the Misguided Children for a weekend.  Over the next couple of days, I will be looking for campgrounds that will take motorhomes AND tents. I will post what I find. This should be a fun weekend with a bunch of good friends. :?

With this being a Holiday weekend, the longer we wait, the more difficult finding accomodations (camping/motels) will be harder.

Let me know if you are interested. 8)

Here is the info for the campground. They have rv sites, tent camping and small cabins. Prices for rv sites are about $26/nite. Tents from about $16/nite. Don't know about the cabins.

Phone: (435)879-2450
Directions: N'bound from I-15 (exit 22): Go 3/4 mi N on Main St, then 500 ft E on Center St, then 1 block S on Valley Rd.

When you make your reservations, tell them you are with the MOREY party. That way they can get us in the same area.

Make your reservations soon, as they will fill up for the holiday weekend.

Buck & I are interested in joining this weekend trip.

However, we'd like to know what the trail ratings might be?

When we get that info, we will decide on making reservations at the motel.

I'm not sure what trails we will be doing. But, they will be very scenic. When I talked to Glenna, she said that her and Barb don't play rough. With that being said, I would guess maybe at most 2 - 2.5. Should be an easy and fun weekend.

Took the plunge and reserved a room at Leeds RV & Motel today.
We will be arriving on the 2nd.
What are the plans for everyone else going? What day or days?
Are we making runs on both the 3rd & the 4th?
What about meal plans? Since we're in the motel, we won't be cooking out, but could bring something for a covered dish dinner.
Are there any plans for a caravan departure or will it be individually?

Looking forward to offroading in Utah!

Wendy

Hey Wendy. As of right now, I am planning on doing runs on Sat & Sun. If Glenna & Barb aren't available both days, I have a Backcountry Adventures of Utah book so we should be able to find something. As far as dinners go, we usually have some kind of potluck one night. That weekend, I don't know if it will be on Sat or Sun. Everybody would bring whatever meat to BBQ that they want for themselves and some kind of sidedish or dessert to share. Just don't bring too much as there is ALWAYS way too much left over. As we get closer to that weekend, we will get plans finalized.

As far as when people are leaving for Utah, I will be sometime Friday afternoon, hopefully. 8)

I have found some runs that we can do. I was also given directions on how to get to Torweep (overlooks the Grand Canyon). Should be a lot of fun. 8)

Is anyone interested in doing a potluck on Saturday night? Just bring what ever kind of meat you want for a BBQ and a side dish to share. If there is anything left over, we could do it again on Sunday. For those staying in tents or the motel, I'm sure the town should have a store so we could pick upwhat we might need for dinner.

As far as runs go, I think since all of us are staying in Leeds except for Debra, we should be ready to roll between 8:30 and 9am from the RV park.

Not sure about stores in Leeds, but Wendy and I stocked up at a Mondo WalMart (everything but Jeep parts) in Washington, not far away, on our way to Panguitch in July. Pretty close to Leeds. Gas there, too and close to an exit from 15.

Slightly away from the insanity of the St. George MetroPlex...
