I agree with Beth,,, Bob,,, is there time to do Trout & Lovell or would that put us to close to dark for Potato :?: Maybe as long as we keep our 'sightseeing' stops to a minimum we'll have time...

Trout and Lovell will be determined as we get closer to the run date. :? As of right now, Lovell Canyon Rd. and Lovell Summit Rd. (Trout Canyon) are closed  due to the fires in that area. It is possible that Potato may get scratched also, because Lovell Canyon Rd. is closed.  I cannot guarranty anything, including Wheeler. With all the storms coming through, we are at the mercy of Mother Nature. So, who ever is getting her PO'd, STOP IT!!! :P

If I am back by then, and Sheila is up to it, we will be there. I am supposed to be back on the 11th but these are military flights we are talking about... in other words on the priority list my group is really low.

JJ, I did Potato in my TJ with no lift and and open diffs. I had some great spotting from various people that helped a ton. I never took a strap and got out with just some rock scars on the skidplates. It is one of my favorite trails in the area.

Andy

that's cool, Andy. We got a great group here so I'm confident I'll make it through. I should have my Skid Row engine skid by then so I'll conquer it easy enough! The part I've driven of the trail from White Rock to just before the rock garden is great fun. About like the Harris Springs Road, which is another fun mountain drive, even though it terms at the Griffith Peak/ Harris saddle trailhead.

Bonus: a guy I work with is coming along for the ride.
He owns a 1993 or '94 YJ 4-banger, but it's still back in Iowa and he needs to wheel badly.

Sure, you can do Wheeler Pass. You've done the trail before, so you know what it is like. It is the Potato Rd. part that you would have problems with the Ram.

If we leave at 8:30 am will I be able to be back in town by 5pm. The reason I ask, is my son-in law would like to ride along with me but needs to go to work at 5pm. We only plan on the wheeler pass part.

You should be back with time to spare. I would like to get over the worst part of Potato before it gets dark.

I agree Bob, last time I did Potato it was dark...fun, but dark. It's a lot easier to see and spot in the light! :D

I will be there at the very least. Sheila may wind up having to work. We will know around 9 tonight.

On a side note, I haven't gotten around to fixing my CB antenna (leave me alone, I got back Sunday and had to work mon - wed but I now have two weeks off.) Would someone mind bringing along a SWR meter? Thanks.

Nice run Bob and Phil. Would have liked to have done Rocky Gap but Jeff wanted to get back and I was too tired to argue :?

Thanks Bob,,, again,, a masterful job of leading the trail.... My sister BJ was really impressed with the run and even more so with the people in this club... The terrain and mountain vistas were far more than she had imagined... Also,, the comrodery of the members impressed her... She had a great time even though the dry climate and the dust were bothering her... She's from the humid East Coast where these things don't exist !!! All in all,,, a great day.... Thank you all for coming out.... I wish that we could have done Potato with you guys,,, but her back was starting to bother her,,, and the pain pills make her sleepy... Somehow,, I think that she will come back,, now that she has had a taste of the LV area... Thanks again,, Phil
