I can rig up an impromptu amber strobe to serve as a beacon.

Taryol just informed me that we can ditch the wedding we were supposed to go to tonight. She informed me that she would rather go wheeling with you guys. I knew there was a reason I married her, see you all tonight :D :D :D :D

Wow Bill, you really found a Keeper!

About the Libby, can it have a rear locker to compensate for most trails?
Up to a 2 perhaps?

With 2-wheel drive and a rear locker, a skilled driver can often overcome spots that give a lot of 4X4s grief. A 2 rated trail would be quite a challenge, and you might find yourself enduring more body damage than most. The final say-so would have to come from the trail boss for that particular run. Generally, he/she will have the final say on go/no go for any particular rig. Chances are, if there are go-arounds for the real rough stuff, you can easily tag along for the ride, testing your skills where you pick and chose.

To get to the trail head I'm guessing we have to get off the freeway at the Indian reservation. Is that correct ?

As I had said before:
Quote:
You will need 4x for your libby. I still haven't figured out exactly which trail and/or trails we will be doing.

Depending on how everything goes, we may make a turn and do some exploring that the 2x Libby would possibly get hurt on.

Granted, most of us are usually in 2wd, but we are also experienced with what our rigs can do. Since Jimmie99 is new to the group, none of us knows what he is capable of doing or not doing. A night run is not a good place to find that out. Also, don't forget, rocks and stuff look a lot different in headlights than they do during the daylight.

Yes Bill. We were going to meet at the Tribal store, but Craig said that it will probably be like a zoo there for the holiday. Just continue on down the road for about 2 - 3 miles the road will curve to the left. There should be a gravel road that keeps going straight as if you didn't make the turn. I will be there. If you have any questions, call me 232-3422

I agree with you 100% RB...I should have been more clear that I was answering in general terms, not specifically referring to tonight's run. Night runs are not the place to experiment with vehicle capabilities and driver skill.

BTW, I did hook up a "bubble gum machine" strobe. I'm heading out at 6 pm from Washington/Hollywood area. I'll head straight to the point wear pavement becomes gravel. Like it was said earlier...head on past the tribal store as if going to Valley of Fire...you can't miss the meeting spot.

I found some of Craig's gremlins playing racket ball under my Scout, have some unexpected issues still to fix so I won't be making it. Good thing I guess, I have found out in the past that Ely really isn't the best place to be broken down in

Guess I'll see who ever makes the Rally Thursday

Hope everyone had fun. I see the storm is rolling in and hope everyone is off the trail before it hits.
I just finished working on my Jeep 10:30ish - replaced radiator hoses and flushed the cooling system and added a 185 thermostat. See everyone in Ely!!

Had a blast on the run tonight, thanks to all the regulars for making a newby feel welcome. I got home right at 12:45, not bad at all for a night run. I look forward to more such gatherings.

I had a great time, too. Dodging rain drops here and there, but it was quite cooling. :D

It was nice meeting you Mike. I was wondering if you were Jen's dad since I've seen you post on this website. Now I know. :D I just got home and it's 1:30 am. Now it's time to hit the hay!!

Great run Bob thanks for leading we had a great time. We are still trying to figure out how you scheduled the fireworks show to coincide with the run.
