I was thinking about heading somewhere Saturday- Somewhere in the mountains due to the heat.
I don't think anybody has headed to Ely yet. Not until July 6th - that is the normal start of the caravan north.

I am not sure where yet but let me think and I will let you know if I come up with anything.

I don't think that will get us high enough in elevation to cool off much. :( But it sounds like fun
My map shows a trail off of Mormon Well then to Alamo Rd then off on Joe May Canyon up to Wildhorse Pass and over sheep peak and up to Hidden Forest Cabin, but not sure it still goes through -Listed as other Trail. Everything I have heard about that area is a hike and no vehicles past a certain point. Maybe we could come up Gass Peak from the 215 and then up over Wildhorse Pass to see if it is open to Jeeps.
Or something up in Mt. Charleston area, or Potato ridge and then through red rock canyon.

FYI. I have been told that the police  have been hanging around at he end of Losse Rd, as well as Decatur and Jones, giving out tickets (in excess of $250) to people going off-road.

Also, if I remember hearing right, Gas Peak has been closed for a while now. :? Possibly due to a military aircraft crash a while back. Maybe when Brad checks in again, he might have more info. I think that is where I heard it.

I'd be interested in N2Deep's trail, if that exists like that.

I thought Joe May Road just kinda ended.

JJ I have a couple of Maps one shows it as Other Trail and another doesn't even show it. So it may not even be there or just a hiking trail. After looking at it I bet it is only a hiking trail and the road stops at the Trailhead.
I just went looking for a trail that had some elevation, hoping to cool off a few degrees. Not a lot of fun being in the desert when its 100+ outside. I might just run Logandale Trails or Red Rock Canyon, but do it way early and catch a sunrise for some photo opps and then take an afternoon siesta in the A/C 8)

I can't usually do anything on the weekends, but I would suggest heading up towards Cold Creek.

You can hit Harris Springs Road which is nice mountain drive that dead ends at the trailhead to Griffith Peak; It's got some nice views.
Not tough at all, but there is a hill jus as you get on the main road I play around on up there that gets your pucker factor up a bit. You drive up it seeing nothing but blue sky, and if you drive back down you see nothing, like your driving off into oblivion. awesome!!

Hidden Forest and the cabin are hike in. It hasn't been open to vehicles since (IIRC) the early 80's. It's a 1/4 mile hike from the trail head to the pic nic ground.

I have heard folks going through the Alamo road all the way as of late as you can get around the closure, but doing ignorant things like that is what gets the road permanently closed for the rest of us.
