i know it's hot but it's the desert for crying out loud. :lol: anyway, there's a trail that dad and i layed out years ago that connects jean to cottonwood valley road by going through the bird springs. monica and i ran it once and it's not hard but visits 2 springs and should have some wildflower action. also some wild horse's as there's a herd of palamino's in cottonwood valley. we'll meet in jean at the big gas station/truck stop next to the gold strike casino at 0800 and roll at 0830. any questions call me at 702/497-9154 8)

actually gary dad and i looked at some trails using maps and i never ran it againtest the book. this trail goes north on the old blvd a little ways then cuts under I15 and goes north a bit before turning into the bird springs. we did stop and eat lunch at the bird springs than came a little more north before turning to another sring and climbing a hill to connect to cottonwood valley road south of cottonwood summit. when monica and i ran it it was a great wildflower trail and i think it would make a good trail for the website when it's built. 8)

Ahh, that way. The book skirts the Spanish Trail cut off and is more direct to the springs. I've heard of folks going the way you mentioned, as there are some old mines/quarries up there that used to have some cool artifacts in the day.

I'll be thinking of you having fun tomorrow whilst I'm working Image

that's right. according to the maps when monica and i ran this trail we pass the nevada royale and gary allen quarries on the way to bird spring. monica and i found lots of sign, knapped quartz, of indians having camped and hunted the spring. there's even an old oil well out there. 8)

Brad, that was a great little jeep trail. Not overly challenging, but a GREAT wildlife and flower show. In saw a lot and learned a lot. I still wish we would have disconnected. It would have been smoother, but I'm an old man.
Thanks again, looking forward to the next outing.

hey brad,
simple mind set,
"dirt=disconnect"
now that i have extra hitch pins, i can afford to loose a few on the backroads.
my sciatica will thank me.
see ya monday.
take care of the RV first, then call.
the weather is supposed to be in the 80's that day.
i'll have to bring a sweater...
take care,
nurse beth
