burro wash has a big area next to the water. we did it as a club run and it was the largest number of vehicles ever on a run 30+. it's pretty easy except for a short stretch at the bottom where the trail and wash become one and you have some rocks to deal with. take bucanan blvd south out of boulder city. go left past the power distrbution plant and look for approved trail number 60. if geojeeptom goes with he has the trail on his gps. 8)

How about Burro Wash? IIRC that's about a 2- 2 1/2? Comes out towards the top of Mojave from Boulder City. I forget what road you take, but it follows a power line road most of the way. Brad or Scuba might know which street you start from.

How long ago were you down that way Gary? I have a friend who was down there with his ATV's and said there was an area that was pretty rough. He has a XJ and he said it looked impassable. That's what he said, but his Jeep is stock. He was there in February this year.

Just wondering. I didn't want folks with stock vehicles to get to that point and have to call it a day. We would like everyone who goes, make it to the lake.

Read up a few posts Stan. I will edit and see if I can highlight the meeting place and time.

Great info, thanks Brad!! I was just worried about the washed out area for stock vehicles. Only because of what my friend said. He's pretty new to 4X4's and may not be able to judge the trail as well as some seasoned veterans.

I'd like to see Burro Wash, so that's my vote. How about it?? Do you all want to give it a try? Sounds like an awesome run!! Besides, this is for Andy and Sheila. :D

iirc, geojeep tom was just down there solo this last week and said it wasn't anything that would have made him turn around. the rough section should be no harder then a level 2.5. we've had stock xj's, tj's, kj's, and dawn's sidekick down there. 8)

I know if you go to fr.45 that the beach is nice down there---no weeds---can park in the water if you want---no steep incline down, pretty level---some cliffs  :D :?:

Cool 8) I'm trying to talk the friend who told me how bad he thought it was, back down there on Sunday. I figure, if he goes with a group, he won't be so worried about getting stuck or not being able to negotiate the bigger rocks.

Thanks again, Brad. I feel better about taking a group down to the lake. Since I've never been on this trail, I just wanted to get all the info I could. That's why this forum is so important. We can all share info and experiences, too. :D

Andy & Shelia,,, Have a fun run,,, and a safe deployment... We'll be waiting for your return,,, and have another run then... Sorry I can't make it Sunday,,, gotta' work...
This really is a good trail... Difficult,, but not too bad... I made it on a run on 2-25-05,,, when my XJ was 'box stock'... It was a challenge then, but now I wouldn't mind it... Check out these pix... Old digital camera, not much clearity, but you'll get the idea... Enjoy... See ya when you get home.....

It was early last year I was down there, but I know of a few clubs that run down there and the word was similiar to what GeoTom said. I think it just depends on what you consider to be too bad? But I did the rough section in my SII stock, so clearence wan't a big issue then.

I ran Burro Wash a few weeks ago. It's at least a 2 and probably a 2.5 in some spots. There is a great place to lunch and swim. Hope to see you there.

Since you were just there and you are going, would you like to take the lead? I've never been there and I'm sure I could get there just fine, but it's always better to follow someone who knows the trail better.

Thanks to everyone. Your support is greatly appreciated. I will drop in on the board from time to time just to let ya'll know that I am doing okay.

Had a great time today. The trail is awesome with great views and a nice area to picnic at. Was able to bring our dog Jasmine along and she didn't get sick once! That is very unusual for her. We did however find a tic on her Tummy after we got back home.

I'll see ya'll in about four months. 8)
