Interested but apprehensive...

What are the minimum vehicle requirements for this run, in other words can my truck make it with a minimal chance of damage? Im on 33's, with good armor, 3.5" of lift, and a rear locker (longer wheelbase).

Matterhorn is fun, and yes there are go arounds on most everything. I ran it on 31s and an open front diff. We took no go arounds.

Im definately not afraid of hard trails, Ive run them before. I also am not too proud to use go arounds which I use frequently. I am just somewhat limited by my IFS front end and longer wheelbase so I try to choose unfamiliar trails wisely rather than get in over my head. I think I will definately be up for this run though.

This is a pic when I was still on 32's on an offshoot of Tie Rod Cnyn. that I probably should have bypassed.

I guess Im asking is what difficulty rating would you rate this trail with and without the bypasses?

We did Materhorn when we were still stock (Thanks Brad) Its a 3 to 3.5 . My skidplates and grab handles got a work out. Now i'm on a 2" lift and 31s, puting new shocks on this weekend, so no prob, we will try to make it out.

Hi everyone, there may be a change. We might go up to Ash Springs on Sunday to Help Vegas Valley 4 wheelers on new trails and play up there.
Let me know what U all think. Check back for the final route.
Steve

Thats cool with me, I want to do this run but I also have an opportunity to do the mojave road again on that weekend. Should a re schedule be in order I will still be interested in going. There are just so many local trips worth doing and a rather small window of decent weather to do them in :!:

If we go to Ash springs I am not sure , they are all new trails. If we go to the Bowl and the Matterhorn its a 3 with little to no pin striping. If you have 32s and at least one locker you will do fine. 31s or smaller you need good skids.

You should try to make it to Ash Springs with Vegas Valley if you can. They're basically trying to find class 3 and under trails now as they have gps'd enough 4-5 trails. There's only 2 weeks left to make any new trails so you'll be missing alot if you don't go. Go to my post under fun runs "trail mapping trip Alamo/Ash Spring March 4/5" for details.
Approx.... GPS co-ords for the right turn off from US 93 are N37 26.592 W115 11.101. Then 3/4 of a mile up the dirt road make a left turn towards the motorhomes. You'll want to be up there by 8:00 - 8:30 at the latest. If you go to" V V 4 W.org" it's under "area 52" in the bulletin board.

Hey Steve, did the loop we start ever get a cut off from it mapped? Remember we we're talking about finding a way out that would be more stock friendly?

Just wondering out loud

I *might* be up for that, but I have to survive Pack Saddle first :D

I believe they went out that hard way they were trying when we were there, but I'm not sure. I haven't been able to make it back up there. I tore up one of my knees while I was in Texas so I haven't been able to do any 4 wheeling.

OK here it is. We will be doing the Bowl Trail and the Matterhorn going home on the new exit. We will meet at Petro truck stop (Speedway) at 8:am leaving no later than 8:30 am. Bring lunch and water. I recommend 32"s and good skids. There are good go arounds.
If you need to call 604-3040
Steve
