Trust me...I'd rather play in the dirt, but Matthew looks forward to going to the race each year! :D and he's only 5!! :o

I'm in trouble

Thanks Gary & Dick for a great day.. !!! :D Al, I hope they got the race in for you, but you would have liked this run... The scenery was great, especially the 2nd half powerline road... The snow was an added thrill... We don't get this opportunity very often here, as you know... This is the gang checking out the graves of those who were building a 'retreat' in the Spirit Mtn. area... Neat place... Check out the snow...

Bye the way,, JJ what happened ??? Didn't see ya there...

CJ's friend, Tony, really enjoyed the day... I think that we've made a new desert rat out of him... He's already asked to go on more runs... I love it when I can help get a kid off the streets and show him something that is really educational and fun... Phil

A little info from http://nvghosttowns.topcities.com/gtlist.htm about Juniper Camp, the area we ate lunch at.

"Camp associated with the mill site for the Chiquita and Juniper mines. The mill site was active in the late 1890s with an additional mill constructed in 1905, about 25 miles south of Searchlight. The prime of the camp was from 1905 to 1908. Little remains"

Not sure the camp was right in the same area as the mines, Bob might know about that one. But considering the debris in the area, it might have been.

Glad everyone had fun, and I agree, the power line road was quite interesting, good thing I took the wrong turn huh Steve?. Might have to approach Brad about making our little trip a Club Run later this year after it cools back down.

Yes, good job Gary :) I was hoping to find that jeep sized boulder in the road but it turned out I was heading in the wrong direction anyway. That was a good trip. That could be a nice club run like you said, and if we left a little earlier we could spend more time at the different ruins.

Sorry Steve it was my fault on the late start - Gary wanted it to be 0800 but my eyes would have been 1/2 open - Thanks for all the info on the old houses and good job finding the graves Gary - Really good run on the power lines and the Jupiter(?) mining area - Those wrong turns are really worth it!

The start time for this run worked out fine. I meant that a club run should start sooner for this trip as there was so much to see.

I'll pass the thanks on to my Dad since he was the one with the history knowledge of the area, especially since the last time he was there was before I was born

Sounds cool...would have loved to be there. We actually had a pretty good race day. No Rain and the sun was warm. See you all next time.
