I'll be running to McCallough Springs on Sun. Jan. 22. I'll be at the turn off that goes to Nelson on 95 south. Those interested I'll be there at 0830 and leave at 0900. This is a 1.5 to the springs but not sure what it is after that Steve and I are going to check it out. It looks like it might turn into a 2 or 2.5 after the springs. I have never gone farther by myself. :D

Do you plan to go all the way through to SR164? If so, there are a few springs to hit on the way out. They tend to be kind of seasonal though.

Here's a link to the So. McCullough Wilderness Area. Pine Spring is the next major spring that is further south on the powerline road that heads to 164. This is more of an exploration trip, not knowing what's past McCullough Spring.

I was through there about 3 years ago and it wasn't too bad really. But like I found out last weekend while doing (more like trying) Grassy Springs, last winter really tore this desert up.

When you come out by Wee Thump (cool place by the way) you can take the YKL Ranch road to a back way into Crescent Mine. Really fun little trail, about 1.5 max last time I ran it last Spring after I got the SII. But it did have some narrows through a wash that might be nasty by now.

I'm going to try to go, but I'm not definite.

Al, you take the 95 as if your going to Boulder City. After you pass Railroad Pass Casino, watch for the turn off to Laughlin. It's a couple of miles before B.C. About 10 miles down the road is the turn off for Nelson. We'll be waiting at that intersection. It will probably be most of the day.

the last time I ran it, it was good for full size. It was after all the rains from last year. Steve and I want to explore to see how far we can go. It look good but I was by myself the last two times I've been back to the springs. It should be a good trip. I'm sure it will be an all day so bring your lunch or snacks with your water and drinks.
See you Sun.

Thanks Gene, for the wonderful adventure. It was super!!! It was nice wheelin' with you and all that went. I hope I created enough draft to help you while driving north on 95. :P Dang, was that wind bad. Just ask my hood. I hate wind

I'll post the pictures I took as soon as I get them developed. Can't wait to see the ones everyone else took. See you on the trails.

Sorry it took so long and the pictures aren't as good as my digital pictures were, but until I get my new digital camera, I guess 35mm film will have to do. :)

Here's the link to the pictures I posted on my Webshots...McCullough Springs Pictures

Thanks for posting the pix, Joe. It's nice to be able to show the family since I either forget my camera or am too busy dealing with Kasey, Matt or driving to snap my own.
