Meet south end of McDonalds Parking lot in Searchlight NV
Saturday Feb 23 2013
Meet at 8:30 and roll at 9
Bring a linch and top off in Searchlight

Going to check out some mines around Lewis Holes Southwest of Searchlight.
Trail starts easy and gets more technical as we get in. Rating 2.5 near the mines.
Not sure how the recent weather has affected the trails but they should be ok.

I'm driving a Stock height Grand Cherokee with skid plates and thinking that any 4x4 with at least Jeep clearances should be fine.
Can't recommend rigs with running boards on this trail. I would feel bad if you bent one

Anyone interested?

Mike

I'd like to get either myself with the family out or just myself. I haven't been to Lewis Holes before so that sounds interesting. Is it an in and out, or a loop? I'm game for about anything personally. Anything closer to home would be fine too, I just can't think of any area that I haven't been before or would like to revisit or explore.

Sounds like a great day in the dirt. And an area I haven't been to makes it even more interesting. See you there!!! Well, with a little research, I found out that I was there back in 02-25-06 with the Club when they did Hart and Juan Mining areas. I for the life of me don't remember. I found tracks going by it though, so I guess I'll have to wait to see if I remember it or not. But hey, that means there is more time to explore and check things out. Maybe discover something new or in reality....old. Still going!!! Oh, and taking the Grand. It needs a little dirt time. It's been clean way too long.

Mike - nice run, really enjoyed it, could be an outstanding club run as well. I now secretly want to own a WJ...very impressive driving and vehicle capability. The terrain and views were nicely varied, fun trails, people could be in for a treat and also learn what their stock off road vehicle can accomplish when things look interesting, yet are entirely doable.

Thanks Mike, for leading us on what was an awesome day of wheelin'. The wife and I just loved the trails you led us through. They were great!!! Christie and the kids had a wonderful time, and so did I. We got home around 8ish, and the kids were all passed out from running around all day exploring the awesomeness of the area we were wheelin' through.

To the group of Jeepers who went, and you know who you are, it was great running with you all today. Thanks for being there, and helping my family and myself have a great day in the dirt. And Rauol, thanks for being so nice to my kids and letting them ride with you in your ZJ. They really enjoyed it and I hope they were respectable toward you and your Jeep.

What I discovered from this run...since I installed the lift on the WJ, I haven't really pushed it too far because of the trails I've driven it on. There were a lot of places to test your suspension travel and flex, and you could learn how to get through areas where a low traction situation could occur. That's just the driving part. The scenery was really spectacular to top it off. But that aside, today's trails really helped me discover the potential problems I could have when I disconnect the front sway bar. Limiting straps are on the short list of things needed for the beast. Oh, and bumpstops for the front, too!! It was a great learning day as well.

Until next time!!!

Excellent run! The run was full of adventure. Thank You Mike for leading it. My daughter and I had a blast.

Joe, your kids we're great, they kept Brigitte and I company throughout the run. Anytime they want to ride along they are welcome.

Also, it was a fun way to end the run with a detour run along the train tracks, ending up at Primm. Nice taste of the Trophy truck race course. It was worth the wait, while the off road race crew clear a way for us in between the hauled out broken trophy trucks. Thanks guys and gals who attended this fun run...Rauol

Thanks all.
It was great wheeling with you, I really had a great time.

I have started on the pics and should have them posted before the weekend is over.

Here is the link to the photos I took throughout the day. Just click on the pic and when the site comes up, click the 'x' in the upper corner of the pic and it should take you to the album.

Nice photos, Mike!! It was nice seeing the fronts of everyone's Jeeps instead of the back. A good view either way.
