Thanks for a fun day Brad :!:

The question of when the sandstone dunes fossilized made me currious. So, came home and did some reading
Brad, you're not gonna believe this :? The Bitter Springs area is upside down
Ok, the sandstone in the muddies is Jurrasic Aztec Sandstone 180-190m yrs old. Fossil Dunes. Same time as Navajo Sandstone and very nearby. Moab is Navajo, Valley of Fire is Aztec. Guess they were different dunes :?: The Limestone on top of it is Cambrian Bonanza King formation 300-500 m yrs old. Anceint sea bed long before Lake Lohantan. The Muddy area seems to have been one very busy place during the Cretaceous 93m yrs ago. The folding and thrusting deposited the older rock ontop of the younger rock then erosion has exposed. The muddies seem to be nearly epicenter for alot of fault shifts that created those mountains and the ones around it from the Morman mts to the spring mts. As far as I can tell from this the ash layer falls into the Quarternary (recent) where the conglomerates and alluvial concretions seem to come in. Whole thing makes me think of shuffling dominos.

Have no Idea how I understood even a 1/4 of this, Maybe I didn't

Site I was reading from
http://ir.library.oregonstate.edu/xmlui ... 1957/13289

The paper by Daniel Carpenter. see pages 30-33(pg45 acording to the pdf reader), Discussion of the North Buffington Back Thrust.
or have fun and read the whole thing

Thanks Brad and everyone for a fun day. The snow was great. The chicken fried steak at Sugars was wonderful.

Brad, it was great having you lead a run again. It has been a long time. Who would have thought that we would have gotten snowed on in April. Amazing.

Brad, once again you've outdone yourself. Who else could have a great run, with a good recovery, a little rain, lightning and thunder, and SNOW IN APRIL in Southern Nevada at about 2500 feet. Thanks for a wonderful day with great friends.

Thanks for the pics from the photogs

great day.
saw some friends i haven't seen in a while.
dickie's exit was one of the reasons i started building up my first jeep.
i think dickie is smiling and sharing the spirit, still.
so brad, please continue leading us down the path of dust, mud and snow.
lifted and locked is the only way to go.

I had a great time Brad. Just like the old days when we used to do that all the time. Keep the runs rolling and I'll see you on the next one.
