my bro and I are planning on going down to electric ave and MAYBE eagle wash if people want to try it, on tues 28th. we are gonna meet up at railroad pass casino at 10 am, and leave at 10:30... its a little late I know, but I dont get to bed till 3am most nights, so I dont like doing 8am runs =P. electric ave is a very scenic trail and pretty easy for the most part as most of the obstacles are optional. eagle wash on the other hand is not stock friendly so you have to do that if you dont want to. anyways, I hope to see some people show up, and it will only be my second time there, and first time leading, so be prepared to maybe get a little lost =P

Wish I could go, but I'm in Texas this week.

I love Electric ave to Aztec wash, and of course Eagle is great trail to show what a difference lift/larger tires and lockers, or a good spotter can make.

Here are videos and pics from last month when we ran them.

well to start I ended up taking the wrong trail at first, so we missed a lot of the mines, but then we got back on track and did electric ave, which was almost as awesome as the first time. Marla showed us a nice camping spot down by the water and then headed home, while we took eagle wash after exploring some of the other side trails. my bros FJ made it up the waterfall with no probs, but the old toyota tacoma with us had to do the go around, and ended up toasting his clutch pretty bad (4cyl and no lockers = rough time through there) but he made it on his own. Brandon in the truck took some videos, so I will post em as soon as he sends me the links. overall it was a fun day, despite getting sunburned pretty bad and using almost a full tank of gas haha!

i'm thinking about taking a buddy out there on sunday (5/3) but he is in a 2003 CRV. I'm confident that we can do all the scenic stuff. Since I didn't pay attention to the bypasses when I was there, does anyone think his CRV will make it through eagle? I'm a pretty decent spotter and we will definitely take him the easiest route.

Thanks,
Bill

Personally, I wouldn't even take it into the washes since most of the stuff is fairly deep gravel unless its a 4WD. Is it at least a 4WD or is it a 2WD?

Definitely not Eagle Wash unless he wants damage. There is fairly big rock waterfalls to go up and over.

If anything, stick to the hardpack trails. Hate to see you get stranded out there somewhere and obviously this is my opinion and you decide what you feel comfortable doing.

Joe,
I definitely value your opinion, you did get me up the waterfalls at eagle after all :) It is 4WD and I've taken him through some crappy washes in the past. I carry enough recovery gear and am confident that my rubi could drag him out of a wash if needed. I'm pretty sure we will be doing the trail down to the water and we might drive over to eagle and check it out but I don't think we will run it.

Thanks,
Bill

Oh, since it's 4WD, all the trails should be good for him to go on including the gravel parts of the washes. I had to strap out a Mercury Grand Marquis out of the lower part of Eagle Wash once. He was buried up to his bumper trying to turn around... :P He realized he was doing something his vehicle just wasn't meant to do. I just didn't want to see something like that happen and put a damper on your day. But a 4WD CR-V should be fine.

I'd be leary about running the upper part of Eagle Wash where you went up the waterfall. I'd still worry about dragging the bottom end of the belly and maybe rockers. It would probably be best to follow your gut and not run it like you said. But then again...Hell, what do I know??? LOL Mike went down the rock waterfall then up the easier part with his slightly built Geo Tracker. He made it look easy!!! :o

When you go, take some pics. I will be a sight to see. Not too many people wheel their CR-V's ya know... :D

My Tracker has a rear locker, skid plates, and rocker rails, and it needed all of it :). But it was a blast.

If it looked easy it was because I had a good spotter.
