Howdy,

Jeepin' Joe advised me to post this here. This is my first invite.

On Wednesday, December 12, 2008(dang this year has gone by too fast) I'll heading to Quail Springs on the north side of Gass Mtn for a little stroll. Meet at Corn Creek Field Station at 8:30 AM, I'm about at 9:00 AM. Total time: 3-5 hours and 1/2 tank of juice.

From Corn Creek we head up Mormon Trail for app. 5 miles of rocky road. Turn right and head ene for 25 or so miles and then turn north on the Quail springs road for a couple of more miles. This time of year, nice and desolate. The grade is 1, if that, no one has to air down but I would recommend that only 4x4s go. I drive an 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee(limited)V8, maroon in color by the name of "ol' red". Good views of the Spring Mtn range and good country to tool through. Chance of seeing sheep is slim, cause they see you before you see them, it's their home not ours. Eat lunch at the spring, err I mean seep, if it's running. If ya show fine, if you don't that's fine too! I go whether you go or not! If some one wants to lead, go for it. I've been there every year for the last 42 years. I will have air, if anyone needs that. The trail is stock friendly. Dang good idea to dress warm, layers. I'm bringing nikon & canon cameras & glass also a spoting scope for sheep. I've seen herds around Gass Spring and we will be fairly close with glass.

I'm taking "Big Gas Grill" to cook my hamburgers & beans on, so you can do yours or I'll do it for you! It's no never mind to me. When I go, I always eat hot, this ain't the 20th century anymore or Kansas for that matter.

Howdy Self,

Weather Underground says that Wed. 12-10-08 will be clear high in lower 60s. Like I said earlier dress in layers, duh!

Howdy Self,

I'm bringing a couple of large garbage bags too. If you are lucky and get a hunt tag for bighorn sheep from the Desert Wildlife Range, this(Quail Spring) is where you can hunt them critters. I use to hunt and got tags back in the 80s and hunters scatter garbage everywhere. If I see something that don't belong I pick it up. You can too if you join me in toolin' up to Quail Spring, see ya Wed, 12-10-08. If you're late and know the way, put ketchup(catchup) on that burger and come on!

Last Note,

The Gass Peak trail does encircle Gass Mtn and the drive after Quail Springs would be an air-down event, but I got fined once back around the turn of 2000 AD(off roadin' in the valley), I ain't planning on finding a fine again! So Quail Spring return trip will be back out the way in. You may see this and say, no thanks, there'e no challenge in it, whatever. Sure I wear a kidney belt since I'm 56 and still I'm a very strong a foot but challenges to the jeep are few and far apart. Sure I still hunt bighorn, but only in central Nevada with bow not rifle. I will see me, maybe you maybe not. Enough said!

Okay, Final Last Note,

Went today, road damp, travel good! Sign of Sheep excellent, saw 15 at Gass Spring with glass. Signs all around the seep, and she flows still a little. We'll eat at the trailhead, ranger I talked to doesn't want anyone stayin at natural water too long. Dress Warm, see ya there or not!

Okay, Okay Very Last Final Note,

I don't own a cb yet. My cell is 539-5784. No one knows me from Adam but if you lost your way, call. I'm checking craigslist for cb.
