this trail was one of the first i went on when i got my jeep.
i have pictures from then and plan on taking pictures of the jeep now for the compare and contrast effect.
also, need proof as to where all that money has gone in the last 4 years.
see ya bright and early.

if it rains, your gonna get that shiney jeep all muddy.
no whining.
in arizona, it's no sniveling.
hope you can make it.
mac made me promise to make sure we wait for him if he is time challenged for the meet up.
he doesn't realize who he is depending on.
i am usually the one running late to these Primm runs.
plan on making the first alarm, no snooze bar.

anyone gonna meet up early and brave breakfast there 2 Pete's?

I won't make time to have breakfast here and it's a lengthy drive to Primm anyway.

Hope to make the trip!
Coming from Orange County,
so hope Cajon Pass is open.
If not, I will try to go through
the desert via 247.
Plan on staying at Whiskey
Pete's Wed. night.

Howdy Joe,

Hope your Mom has a hoot on the run. I have to cancel(sad). I had a break down on the trail with Brad and as Rex the Wonder Recoverier was recovering me back down the trail, I was able to restsrt my grand. Got to take her to the shop and find the short that is not allowing me to engine start. Just had the 60,000 mile tune-up done and then this happens, but it could happen. After I was able to restart, we did another 180 and finished the run. Lucky me, I'm always ready to take picutures but this time I'm in some! Catch you soon! Backroaders is a nice group! Thanks!

We need to cancel our going to Mojave tomorrow. It is not that we cannot make thru the snow , it's the idiots on the road that I cannot duck. I feel bad , but do not want my Jeep torn up . Rex :(

Sorry to hear that some of you won't be able to make it. Next time I guess. This is some weird weather we are having, and my mom's flight was cancelled due to the snow in Las Vegas. Never thought I'd write that...

I'm still giving it a go, so for those who will still be going, see you at the meeting place.

I don't know when my mom will be able to get a flight out here. I doubt in the morning. I hope I get back before she gets here if its later in the day. I guess I'll have to play it by ear!!

Yeah, I'll check my topo when I get home and maybe find some alternate route. We would get off the trail on Cima Rd and I-15. Isn't that before Baker? Don't have a map in front of me at the moment... :P

Well crap!!! Can I say that??? Anyway, with all the snow that seems to have fallen shutting everything down, roads, airports, etc, I think it would be best to cancel this run. Sorry about the late notice, but I just got home from work and was able to get online and gather info about getting to the trailhead. If it's as bad as I'm hearing, it would probably be in our best interest to do the trail some other time.

All who posted that you were going, I hope you read this before heading out there in the morning. I'm sorry again to be cancelling this run, this late in the evening.

Thanks JJ for posting the road closures. I've been seeing them on the internet, too. I got this one via Google:

HIGHWAY CONDITION REPORT AT 2045 HRS ON 12/17/08

CALTRANS HIGHWAY INFORMATION SECTION REPORTS THE FOLLOWING CURRENT HIGHWAY
CONDITIONS.

BE ALERT FOR FOG, CARRY TRACTION DEVICES IN MOUNTAIN AREAS AND WATCH FOR
HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL. "SLOW FOR THE CONE ZONE"

TRAVEL IS NOT RECOMMENEDED FOR CAMPERS, TRAILERS OR PERMIT LOADS IN THE AREAS
WITH A HIGH WIND ADVISORY POSTED.

HIGHWAYS NOT LISTED ARE REPORTED OPEN WITH NO RESTRICTIONS AT THIS TIME.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I 15
[IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA]
IS CLOSED FROM THE JCT OF I 215 TO THE JCT OF US 395 /IN HESPERIA/
(SAN BERNARDINO CO) - DUE TO SNOW - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN ALTERNATE
ROUTE

IS CLOSED FROM 24.2 MI SOUTH TO 19.2 MI SOUTH OF THE NEVADA STATE LINE
(SAN BERNARDINO CO) - DUE TO SNOW - A DETOUR IS AVAILABLE

To me, that says that you can get 19.2 miles into California, but can you imagine all the other folks trying to do the same thing. It may be one huge traffic jam and probably is!!

I PM'ed everyone who posted that I felt was planning on going. I hope you all read the message board before you leave the house...I hope, I hope, I hope!!! Sorry guys!!! Seems too difficult getting to the trailhead since it's 15 miles into Cali. Since Primm to Baker is closed, I don't know of any other way to get to Primm let alone the trailhead. Wish we had more time to figure this out, but I'm probably the only one up right now and everyone else is getting a good nights rest to get up early for the meeting time. It really upsets me that this weather came in and threw a monkey wrench into all my plans. Can't fight Mother Nature. Someone pissed her off though and that someone seems to have been me. :(
