There are a few folks that have been wanting to get out and get some new geochaches...well here's your chance. First of all, if you'd like to go, you should be registered on Geocaching's website. You should have a GPS, but if you are registered and don't have a GPS yet, that's no problem either. There will be others with GPS's. There will be a lot of hiking to get to the caches so make sure you have plenty of water and sturdy hiking boots/shoes. I'm not sure what the weather is going to be next weekend, but plan accordingly.

We will be meeting at 6 am at the Moapa Indian Store at Exit 75 off I-15 and departing at 6:30 am (trying to beat the heat somewhat)...and be driving along the Bitter Springs trail stopping at every geocache we can find. Depending on what time we get to North Shore Drive, we may take a trail to the Anniversary Mine and get a few more caches along the way or take pavement to Valley of Fire. There are a lot of caches throughout the park. I believe it's $6 to get into the park so bring exact change just in case.

So if you are interested, please post so I can get a good head count. If you would like to learn what it's all about...check out the Geocaching website link above, register, then plan to come along. And as always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask... :D

I'm in! I have a Travel Bug and a Geocoin to get rid of. :D

I'm excited that there is a run JUST for Geocaching!

I'll be there if I'm home. Picked up a TB yesterday that I need to move on.

I'd love to get in on this one but the timing is bad for me.
Have to spend Saturday packing.
We're herding a bunch of Boy Scouts to camp for the week and leaving bright and early Sunday morning.
Hopefully we'll see some more Geocaching runs in the future!

Bummer, Al. Don't assistants know they aren't supposed to go on vacation? Oh, I'm kinda hoping for rain. Just not so much that it causes a flash flood. Although, I've always wanted to see one develop while out in the desert, I certainly don't want to put my Jeep or others in harms way. We'll be keeping our eyes open and always looking for an escape route if necessary.

And I thought I was getting home late after working a double. I got home at 2350 hrs and didn't get to bed until 0100 hrs. I got up at 0420. I wish I could go back to bed. :P We'll have to do this again in the future and maybe our schedules won't be so off...famgeo...sleep well and catch you next time...

To those who couldn't make it, life happens and sometimes things come up. Don't sweat it. We'll be planning another geocache run sometime soon, so keep you eyes peeled.

We had a good time and got a total of 12 caches. The day was rather cool up until around 1330 hrs or so when the sun decided to pop its shiney face through the clouds and heat us up a bit...and the humidity...wow!! We ended the day at the Narrows past Anniversary Mine. There was a cache about 1.3 miles but we were too tire to hike it. We'll head back there when it gets cooler.

Thanks for going Jodi, and Alicia. I had a great time geocaching with you.

Here's the link to the pics I took.

Thanks Phil. I'm slightly paying the price today with sore muscles, but not too bad. It was well worth it though. :D
