The trail for tomorrow has changed. Just a slightly farther south (and legal) different trail.
Meet at Rail Road pass casino 9am roll at 9:30
Going to Aztec Wash via Knob hill.
South of Hoover Dam, South of Nelson
Stock 4x4's ok.
Bring lunch/snacks
Should still be home early

I have the GPS track. Link for Garmin is in next post if you want it.
Should be just over a half a day run, I recommend packing a lunch.

Has anybody been back there recently?

PM me if you want my cell number

Mike

Ok I finally revised some of my old web data.
Here is the link to the pics and garmin mapsource file with the track from one of the times we did this.

http://67.211.203.251/offroad/LonesomeWashCove.htm

My website is still a bit messed up from the server swap so some of the off page links may not work.

Some of those sections look pretty rocky, looking at your last trip photos. What rating is this trail?

I'm interested, and have a stock 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser with factory e-lockers. And wussy road tires. If that's good enough, then great, I'll try to make time on Sat. If the vehicle setup is not good enough, then that's fine, too. I'm waiting until school this semester is paid off to get more accessories for my playtoy.

BTW, for those not familiar with me, I've been to one club event, up Mormon Wells Road in Nov 2007.

The rocks in the photos are optional, and are next to part of the trail.
Like I said it has been awhile since I was there and roads can deteriorate over time with weather, but each time I have been on it over the years I would have rated it “1.5 = dirt road, rutted with washes & gulches, passable mud when wet, 4WD suggested but 2WD possible in good conditions with high clearance vehicle.
â€￾ from the clubs rating guide.

We have taken a couple stock Wranglers back there you should have no trouble even with your street tires.

Unless I get my body lift and tires on my Tracker Friday it will most likely be the least capable vehicle on this one, I think it will do fine.

not trying to be a spoiler but those trails aren't on the "approved backcountry roads" maps for the lake mead national recreation area. be careful about traveling out of bounds as the fines if caught are quite stiff. just a little fyi.

I was not aware of that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Is there a web site with information on acceptable roads to travel in the park?

I originally stumbled upon these trails years ago on an old topo map. All the times I have been back there I have never seen a sign or a ranger, just the occasional quad, or dirt bike. It has been a couple of years.

I need to get out on a nice easy trail somewhere Saturday.

I don't really wan to break the law.
Does someone have an alternate trail we can run with stock trucks they would like to run?

Thanks,
Mike

there are 4 maps in the set and they are FREE for the asking at the front desk of the alan bible visitors center at the lake. the visitor center is on the enterance road from us93 before the fee station. ask for the "lake mead national recreation area approved backcountry roads" maps and you'll be good to go. they are also avalible someplace on the internet as pdf files but the actual maps are 11"wide by 17"long and when i tryed printing them to 8.5x11 they lost alot of detail. try googleing the above map name and you should find them. the only "approved" road that goes all the way to the water below boulder city and above nelson's landing is burro wash (approved road number 60) that i can find on the maps.

if you guys are looking for somewhere else to go a couple of us are meeting at 9 am at the Chevron at Rainbow and 160 to do Potato. It has a hard and soft line to take. I'm not trying to butt into your trip but saw that you might have to alter your plans a bit due to the ever increasing lack of legal trails. We'll probably leave the gas station about 9:20.

Just landed from Milwaukee waiting for suitcase.

I really appreciate the invite to keep things from getting to confusing on our end I want to stick to the same meeting place and time and similar trail.
I have a back up idea in the works and will post it later this morning to see what everybody thinks.

Thanks,
Mike
