We are going to meet at the now REBEL gas station on the right side as you come into Boulder. A few of us are heading to this trail in between Kingman and Hoover dam for the day on Sat Dec 29. We'll meet at the Rebel gas station on the right side as you come into Boulder City at 8 then roll about 8:20. The Portland mine trail veers off of the Cottonwood cove rd and ends at Princess cove rd and is rated a 4 out of 10 then we will pick up the short powerline rd, rated 6 out of 10, to Lake Mojave. I've nver been on this trail so I can't tell you any more than I read in the AZ Backcountry Adventure book. We might return via Laughlin, up the hill and thru Searchlight.
(yes Bob, I'll have reports for all these trips sometime in the near future :P )

I agree with Lucy,, a lot of trail to cover ... But I can't for the life of me figure out how this could end up anywhere near Laughlin.. ?? What ever,, I'm itchin for some dirt and haven't been out for a while... If I can figure a way,, CJ & I might show up... Sounds like a fun one !!! Phil

Cool, looks like a fun group comin along. :D
As for the Laughlin ending, the Powerline road is off the Catherine road which meets AZ hwy 68 just north east of Laughlin about 5 miles and goes out to Lake Mojave. I think there is another Powerline road that you guys run somewhere else that you might be thinking of. The Portland Mine trail heads south off Cottonwood rd which we took to the lake at the end of the Packsaddle loop club run back in April. Yeah, it'll probably be a long day but what else did you have planned any way? I figure from north LV it'll be apx 250 miles round trip.
Keep in mind that all the info I have I'm getting from the AZ backcountry Adventure book. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :?

Steve, thanks... Now I understand... I never associated the fact that the beautiful mountains across the river from the Nevada side could have trails runing to Laughlin... DAAAH ?!! It will be a long day,, that has to be at least 60 miles of trails... It has to be spectacular !!! I'm doing my best to twist the budget to be there.. Besides,, I need to learn the 'photo trick' and stay alive at the same time !! LOL Phil

YEA!!!!! Let's get dirty. :D
once again, my disclaimer for this trip. Joe has tracks for half of it after that we're on our own. We most likely will get misdirected at some point and I'm going to blame it all on the AZ book. :?
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Dave, glad you can at least come out to visit.
c y'all soon
