Hello from Ohio!!!

Hopefully Al's YJ will be done and ready for a rock test by Saturday. So, I'm posting this a little early. He and I were thinking about going up to do the Matterhorn/Bowl trail early in the morning to beat the heat. Is it still hot in Vegas? It sure is cool here in Ohio...the 70's thus far since I've been here. Nice

UPDATED INFO It looks like a 7 am meeting time at the Iron Skillet location for those on the upper side of Vegas. A 6:15 meet and 6:30 roll for those at the lower end of Vegas at the Dunn-Edwards paint store on the north side of Tropicana, east of 95 to caravan to the Iron Skillet.

We will be meeting at the Petro/Iron Skillet parking lot at the time TBA. I think we'll start at Glendale and head south to the Ute exit. That may change, but either way will be fun.

Everybody knows the trail, it can be stock friendly since there are bypasses around all the obstacles. It also gives the stock Jeepers a chance to see what their rigs can do. Just follow Sheila (if she goes), she'll show you how it's done and without damage for the most part. :P

So if you are interested, keep checking this post for the time. I'll edit this entry so you won't have to read through all the other posts for the meeting time.

I'll be back in Vegas soon!!! C'ya then!!

I sure hope you can make it, Jamie. It's been a while since we've wheeled together. I promise I won't go into any mud pits that nearly swallow my Jeep. :P

This should be an exciting run. My brother Mike and his two daughters are coming out to Vegas to visit me. Why should I be excited? I've been in Vegas for nearly 8 years and this is his first trip out to visit ME. What better way to introduce him to my world than on the Matterhorn/Bowl Trail.

Wow, that was quick. I'm glad you got it back and ready to go test it out.

I would like to do the Shitter trail sometime.

7 am at Petro sounds good to me. 6:15 a.m. at Dunn Edwards paint store on Tropicana, east of 95 on the north side of the road, for those coming from the Henderson area, to caravan up, with a depart time of 6:30 a.m. for those interested.

BBQ sounds good.

Check the updated info on the first post for meeting times, too.

Joe Where exactly do you begin and end your trail? I'm thinking of trailering my Jeep up and back will this be possible?

We'll either start in Glendale and exit at the Ute exit or vice versa. If we start at Ute, you could drop the trailer there and pick it up on the way back. It is about 6 miles in off I-15, but I guess you could always park it somewhere closer to I-15 so you wouldn't have to travel all that way back in. So yes, it is possible.

Are you planning on the Shitter Trail Saturday? If so, what is the time frame on that one for us getting back to Vegas?

I don't even know where it begins. I was guessing it would take no more than 5-6 hours on Matterhorn/Bowl, if we do the bowl. I think that is what it took last time, wasn't it? Maybe Jamie knows where the trail is located and the length of time needed to do it.

Shitter begins pretty much in the area that Hump and Bump stages their base camp. It's pretty much a short trail. Plenty of ways out to the main trail as far as I can remember. I have it in my GPS. It was a real fun trail.

36.605467,-114.50282 (WGS84)

36.605482,-114.502 (NAD27)

These are the trailhead coordinates.
