Well the temps are supposed to be high on Saturday, but I need to do some wheelin' and I got the itch to do something a little harder. So, it's time for a Matterhorn/Bowl Trail run.

The SE meeting place, usually just Al and myself, meet at Dunn Edwards paint store on Tropicana just east of SR95 on the north side of the street at no later than 6:30 am.

All others can meet at the Petro/Iron Skillet off I-15, Speedway exit at 7 am. Roll at 7:30 am. We want to beat the heat a little, too.

We will head up to the Ute exit and do the trail from south to north. We will finish at Glendale where we can air up and grab some ice cream or a bite to eat.

Those who want to go and do a little more wheelin', we will be then heading over to the sand dunes in Logandale. Possibly do the loop depending on the amount of time and who wants to do it.

So, if you are looking to get out in the dirt/rocks and would like to join in, you are more than welcome to come out and play.

You are a lot braver then I am, Joe! Make sure you have plenty of fluids (for man AND machine) & a plan "B" in case of a break down. :| Desert temperatures during the day are getting downright dangerous! I hope you have fun out there, though! How did someone from Ohio turn into such a Desert Rat? :?:

 Yeah !!! What Lucy said !! Joe,,, you guys be careful out there... it's going to HURT !!! Check the forcast !! I don't know if my XJ would make it ,,, overheat wise !!! If you guys want to borrow my personal 'misster systems' (like the one on your patrol bike) I'll loan them to you... They will help .... Let me know....... I'm still recovering from the "Lola Benifit Run" last year in July... Some of the guys recorded temps of 135 degrese in the canyons we were in just south of Valley of Fire !!!! The temps forcast are the same as they were then !! Have fun,,, but I respectfully will bow out of this one... The "night run" that Lucy is planing is going to be HOT too,,, but at least no 'blazing' sun to deal with..... Good Luck.......... Phil

That's why I posted it as only for the brave. Granted, it's going to be a little hot Image outside, but when my Jeep is all open, it's not that bad. And how does a guy from Ohio become a Desert Rat? That's easy. Too many years of being in the cold, wet, rainy, snowy, damp, humid, cloudy, Image while living there. I much more prefer the Image and Image burning my Image

It's only as hot as you think it to be. I walked on the surface of the sun once. Now talk about hot. My Teva's melted right to the surface. I hate when that happens. Good thing I had my SunBlock SPF 100 Gazillion on or I might have come home with a nasty sunburn. Image

I guess it's because I am outside from around 5:30 am to 7:30 pm, I'm quite use to it. For those of you who go from A/C house to A/C car to A/C work to A/C car to A/C home, I can imagine anything above 80 is probably hot. :P

Alright, alright....it ain't that hot!!!! :D

Maybe because I, too, am from the east. I just think of all those frosty winter days in my old CJ and it cools me right down.

I will, however, leave the dogs at home this time!

If anyone can make this a great run Joe can. I to must admit that in the Summer I like to wheel up to higher elevations. In the winter it is all lowlands. The cabin run sounds great.
I also haven't been up to Wheeler in over 8 years. I am up for a Sat Wheeler run if anyone would like to join me. I will buy breakfast for a fearless leader. :?:

Oh, it was a fun run yes indeed. Image Although, I'm gonna have to quit taking Al on that trail. It seems he's making it a point to break something every time we go. I don't want his wife looking for me Image.

Check out the pics on this Thread

I'm good Al, I was in Oklahoma City when you asked but have been to the Chicago area, eastern PA, and am now near Indianapolis on my way to northern WI. :?
Sorry to hear about your U joint. That sucks. Did you get it fixed?

Joe, cool pix.

so with the 116 degree weather coming this week, my question is, would Joe and friends STILL go out in that, topless and door-less, and A/C-less?
